Just wanted to see if you might be interested in tightening up the off-season schedule - maybe 2 early free agency weeks instead of 3, 3 preseason games instead of 4?
If I'm looking at the calendar correctly, it's actually going to be more than a month between 2045 week 16 and 2046 week 1 - that's a really long time to keep owners interested between meaningful games, especially for teams that missed the playoffs. Fewer preseason games might cut down on some injuries too, but I don't know how that works as a league admin. Just thought I'd toss that idea out there to see what anybody else thinks. Thanks for continuing to run such a great league.
I haven’t given much thought to it seeing as I’ve just the original settings from way back to when. People can give into and we will see if there is popular support for any change. My personal opinion, having not given much thought to it, is that three early FA is fine. One for the initial rush. Second for those who hold out for more cash. And third to let people who miss out to pick up scraps. The thing we may downsize is preseason games. Since the time the league started, the NFL switched from 4 preseason games to 3 so we can make that switch to conform to real life. Any thoughts from others?
Totally understand your view of the three FA spins - that's how I treat it too, before the draft starts.
You may want to check with Rumble Ponies owner cjfred - in one league he ran the late free agency spin AND training camp within about an hour of each other on the same calendar day - might be another option for speeding things up if enough people are interested in doing that.
However, if you really play your starters minimally in the preseason for 3 games, they don’t get fully conditioned. Owners will want to take account for that.
