I'm saddened to see that billyvan is no longer the owner of the Los Angeles Red Dragon. Billy was our league's first innovator and maverick owner. A founding member of Football Moguls, he put his stamp on the league immediately, bringing with him "billyball" - the wide open, pass heavy, all out aerial assault offense that smashed the record books over and over. Under his watch, the Red Dragon appeared in two consecutive Super Bowls. He led his QB Brian Teeple to MVP heights in a season where he threw for 90 TDs! And his running backs could report the easiest workloads of their careers! Not only that, billy made sure to keep the chat box alive and the trade market going. He defied all conventional wisdom. First round draft picks? Didn't need them! Fullbacks? Sign them all up! Defense? We don't need no stinking defense! His one regret is probably never having Todd Sather as his QB. Here's to the one of a kind billyvan! We may never see another owner like him!
To some degree, I feel as though I should shoulder some of the blame for his departure. It was his sudden loss to me that unraveled his 2020 season; the expectation of taking on an unknown player (I think it was my 5-6th game and first complete season in this league) and then being utterly dismantled. I was a 10 point underdog, and the Golden Boys of Boston savagely destroyed his team and his ego.
From then on, he was like the eponymous Stella who couldn't seem to get her groove back. Eventually, he made it back to the playoffs once more in 2022 and lost in the AFC title game to the Colts.
Thank you norm. I will keep a close watch on everyone game. I am no longer an aggressive all out offensive player I use to be. My new playing style will spark interesting competition for everyone.
