What a blast from the past, a look back into memory lane that is cust22! I was really sad to see that league wither away from lack of participation but I'm glad we were able to migrate over the main crew over to here (norm, ssid, bill, billyvan, bananas, chaospika, daniel3ooo, and the ever quiet but never forgotten brohl).
And while it is nice to have the cust22 crew here, I'm happy to see that we have gained a lot of new and committed users. This league wouldn't be the same without all the newcomers and is what has made this league so fun.
(Shoutout Gilberto Johnson, you were the man!)
Here's to many more seasons of fun and antics.
Highlights/Notable Events of Moguls
1. Billyball (all pass and no run makes billy a ̶d̶u̶l̶l̶ ̶b̶o̶y̶ bipolar offense).
The ever so infamous billyball, coined from the creator billvan, consisted of stacking the offense with all 90+ rated WRs and overwhelming the defense by passing every single play to great success. The gimmicky offense stormed through the AFC in the first 2 seasons and overwhelmed teams on their way to 2 straight Superbowl appearances. If not for MFN commissioner jdavidbakr stepping in and updating the game engine due to "Football Reasons", billyball may have continued indefinitely. Billyball has since died down in usage but has made a resurgence this past season as it stormed its way to the AFC title game, only for billyvan to attempt reverse psychology by talking about billyball in the chat, only to play a more balanced offense to his demise in the AFC title game.
Good billyball
Bad billyball
2. What is parity
A brand new league, everyone starts off on a clean slate, we are all equal. Sike! Norm dominates the first 3 years, winning 3 straight titles and proving to everyone that his team is just too Xtreme. Seriously, he went 18-1 in each of the first 3 seasons, and somehow turned a QB with the arm strength of a 10 year old into a Hall of Famer. Parity? No such thing in the beginning.
Here's a reminder of what the first 3 seasons looked like under ̶T̶h̶e̶ ̶M̶a̶d̶ ̶K̶i̶n̶g̶'s Norm's reign.
1st title
2nd title
3rd title
3. A Kurse on the league
If there was ever an underdog story, from an unknown to a success story, you would only have to go through a few thousand google results before we come upon kursetheday! The man appeared out of the blue one day and immediately dominated the league. He would try his darn hardest to convince the league that he had no idea what he was doing and that he was truly an underdog.
Kurse started off his first full season going 18-0, only to be stopped by the Xtreme dynasty. Reeling from his first loss, the underdog pulled himself up by his bootstraps and fought his way to the title game again, only to face MFN legend lellow. This underdog had no fear and dominated TE cheeser lellow to give the underdog story the happy ending we all wanted and needed.
4. Heel turn and rise from the ashes
With the conclusion of the 2020 Superbowl, fan favorite kursetheday made the shocking heel turn in front of the thousands of fans, as he repeatedly leg dropped the league with reminders that he was the league champ.
Buried and burned from years under Norm's reign, the always benevolent Demon's woke up and rose from the ashes to take on super heel ̶H̶o̶l̶l̶y̶w̶o̶o̶d̶ ̶H̶u̶l̶k̶ ̶H̶o̶g̶a̶n̶ kursetheday. As told by stories, Goliath always wins.
5. Well Aubie damned
Aubie, the playoff team that always goes under the radar finally put it all together to take down the Kurse AFC reign and stopping "billyball" in its tracks. But would that be enough to stop the Superbowl shuffling Bears?
Defense wins championships. The Colts rode a wave of 3 and outs, timely fumbles, and a bit of magic on their way to their first tile.
6. Who's music is that?
Booger has arrived, and there's no chance in **** we're stopping him from turning his team into the WWE.
(I will likely be moving this to it's own thread at a later date, but figured this would be a good time to talk some Moguls history!)
