Hi League,
As you know, the basic premise of this league is to have fun. That is my main goal. And to that end, we do not have rules about a lot of stuff and I generally try to avoid interfering with any moves and decisions your teams make. I have only intervened in the most extreme circumstances. Otherwise, if everyone is acting in good faith, even if the actions are dumb, crazy, weird, or whatever, I let it go. It is also a game for me to have fun, and policing everyone else's team is not my idea of fun. So let me reiterate our league's general rule, which is to respect the game and the league and play fair.
It has come to my attention that this game, like many others, has exploits that can make things very unfair. Punt blocks were one example, but I am sure that is not the only one and will not be the last one that gets found. Thankfully, it sounds like a fix for the punt block is coming, but in the meanwhile, I am going to ask the league to use common sense when dealing with the this situation and avoid actively placing high speed, low weight players on the DL. However, we will not be instituting any blanket rule about "no players above X weight" or "DL players only on DL" or stuff like that. I think there are a lot of circumstances where stuff like that might happen unknowingly. For example, evidently, I have been playing my backup SS on the DL all season because I used autosort. There are also times when players switch positions, or when you put an LB who is under weight there. I can imagine lots of scenarios. Also, as I stated, I do not want to be the police man, checking every team's punt formation weekly.
So what I would like to propose is retroactive enforcement regarding this, and any other, exploit. If you believe you have been a victim of an exploit, report it to me and I will investigate. Now that others have taught me how to look for this stuff, it should be very apparent if it is an intentional exploit or accident and then I can evaluate on a case by case basis what the appropriate next action should be. And this would be the rule for all other exploits too, including ones that are not even known yet. If it happens to you, let me know, I will investigate, I might post of the forums about it for feedback and we will come up with an appropriate response after the fact. I know there is a downside that by enforcing things afterwards, you could get screwed during your game and have no recourse, but I am putting my faith in the league, which has been generally good sports so far, to do the right thing and avoid known exploits on their own, because I have no bandwidth to police everyone's special teams rosters every week. No one has ever been booted from Football Moguls and I hope it never happens, but it may be a result if there is abuse of exploits
Does that sound like a plan going forward? Of course, if my faith in all of you is shaken by many reports of exploits, we will have to consider more extreme measures and rules, but it is my hope we do not get to that point.
