Quarterly ReportThe Thrashers won out in the last quarter, besting divisional rivals, Boston Tea Bag Party and Miami Dolphins, while also handing out sound thrashings to the South Brisbane Raiders and Denver Broncos. While the defense still struggled allowing about 22 points per game, the offense was on full tilt, trending the stats upwards after a modest three-quarter mark.
QB John Spartan was a top 5 quarterback, but had the lowest QB rating since his rookie year. He threw for just shy of 5,000 yards with 33 TDs and 15 INT. Both starting Running Backs, David Lusher and George Erwin, had injury-filled seasons, but when they were on the field, they were productive, averaging over 4.0 YPC and pulling in nearly 150 catches out of the backfield. The goal line monster, however, was backup RB Dave Puryear snagging 5 rushing TDs. The leading receiver was TE Winston Wolfe, who caught 96 passes for 1,083 yards and 4 TDs--which was good enough for a top 10 spot on the receivers list, not just TEs. Rookie WR Sam Quint defied all expectations to lead the receiving corp and tied for most receiving TDs with 8.
Defensively, top honors goes to DE Michael Cherrito who led the league in sacks with 13 this season. DE Max Dicken added to his Hall of Fame career with another 5 sacks as well (career 85 sacks). Elliot Spencer snagged 5 Interceptions this season as well. The unit as a whole wasn't spectacular.
K George Miles still nailed 90% of his FGs and even one 59 yarder, but that was his lowest average since 2022 when he was with Indy.
In short, the Thrashers finished up the season with a 13-3 record and still lost the division, but now in the Wild Card Round, they'll face long-time foe billyvan now with the Houston Golden Dragon.
