Quarterly Report

The Thrashers are a top ten team, but for the first time in the last few seasons, they're closer to the ten spot than the one. After 12 weeks, they maintain a 9-3 record, which in some divisions would be enough to win it, but since Boston (11-1) is in the division, it seems likely than the Thrashers will be vying through the Wildcard this season.

Offensively, QB John Spartan is having a solid, yet pedestrian season. For the first time becoming the starter, he might not eclipse 30 TDs in a season (projected for 28 currently), although he could land somewhere in the mid-4000s in yards. The running game has been efficient but not spectacular. RB George Erwin returned to action after only missing two games in a limited capacity, and David Lusher is once again the lead back after narrowly being eclipsed by Erwin last year. TE Winston Wolfe could reach the 1000 yard receiving threshold, and rookie WR Sam Quint continues to impress and leads the team with 8 receiving TDs.

On the other side of the ball, the front seven is generating good pressure, but the secondary is still playing too lax. However, overall, the unit has made it into the top 15 in yards allowed, which is a huge improvement over the early part of the season.

Fun Fact: When the San Francisco Demons played the Thrashers and beat them on October 29, it had been 3 years and 3 days since the Thrasher had lost a home game.

Now that the team is in the back half of the season, the team only has to make one road game at Miami, but will play Boston this week and South Brisbane the following week. In short, the Thrashers control their destiny moving forward and are in "must-win" mode for the remainder of the season if they have a chance of making a play on a three-peat championship.

Check back after the end of the regular season for another team update.

Quarterly Report

The Thrashers won out in the last quarter, besting divisional rivals, Boston Tea Bag Party and Miami Dolphins, while also handing out sound thrashings to the South Brisbane Raiders and Denver Broncos. While the defense still struggled allowing about 22 points per game, the offense was on full tilt, trending the stats upwards after a modest three-quarter mark.

QB John Spartan was a top 5 quarterback, but had the lowest QB rating since his rookie year. He threw for just shy of 5,000 yards with 33 TDs and 15 INT. Both starting Running Backs, David Lusher and George Erwin, had injury-filled seasons, but when they were on the field, they were productive, averaging over 4.0 YPC and pulling in nearly 150 catches out of the backfield. The goal line monster, however, was backup RB Dave Puryear snagging 5 rushing TDs. The leading receiver was TE Winston Wolfe, who caught 96 passes for 1,083 yards and 4 TDs--which was good enough for a top 10 spot on the receivers list, not just TEs. Rookie WR Sam Quint defied all expectations to lead the receiving corp and tied for most receiving TDs with 8.

Defensively, top honors goes to DE Michael Cherrito who led the league in sacks with 13 this season. DE Max Dicken added to his Hall of Fame career with another 5 sacks as well (career 85 sacks). Elliot Spencer snagged 5 Interceptions this season as well. The unit as a whole wasn't spectacular.

K George Miles still nailed 90% of his FGs and even one 59 yarder, but that was his lowest average since 2022 when he was with Indy.

In short, the Thrashers finished up the season with a 13-3 record and still lost the division, but now in the Wild Card Round, they'll face long-time foe billyvan now with the Houston Golden Dragon.

Post Season Report

Thrashernation erupted with jeers and disgust when the team failed to bring a threepeat championship home to Arkansas. -- Reporter Newsman, Thrasher Beat Reporter

The Arkansas Thrashers traveled to Houston to take on the Houston Golden Dragon in the Wild Card Round and narrowly found a way to wiggle by with a 20-15 victory.

The first quarter was scoreless but highlighted by a 68 yard drive ending with a David Lusher fumble on the one yard line to keep the Thrashers out of the endzone. The second quarter was a volley of field goal kicks, and by halftime, Houston led 9-3. Finally, in the third quarter, Spartan hit Lusher with a quick pass for a two yard TD. More FGs led to Houston taking a 12-10 by the end of the third quarter. Then with about 12:00 remaining in the 4th, RB George Elliot made the play of the game and ripped off an 89 yard scamper for a TD. Houston's spirit was fundamentally broken afterwards and Arkansas held on to win.

This previous week, the team traveled to Terra Haute, to take on the 15-1 Terror. It was a wild game of back and forth, but ultimately the top seed Terror held on at home and sucked the wind out of the Thrashers 2028 season.

Ultimately, the Thrashers had a successful but underwhelming season. You can't win them all as they as (but the Thrashers have had just about as much success as any franchise could hope for). No big changes are expected to come for next season but retirements could affect some of those outcomes.

The brass are already looking at future talent in the draft and free agency and are hoping to fill in gaps and continue to revitalize the team for the 2029 season.
