Post-Season Report

The Thrashers were squarely put in their place by the Independence Pirates. The Thrashers were favored by 6 and it was a home game. Instead, the defense could not seem to stop the Pirates, and the offense coughed up the ball twice, and as time expired, the Thrashers were making a productive march up field with no timeouts.

Owner Timothy Thompson handed down some reserved confidence. "Look, Coach Reid and John Spartan were on the right track; we just ran out of time. Sometimes, it's just not our year." The owner went out to say that there was no reason to "burn it down and sift the ashes." He is confident that the team continues to be a contender.

This off-season will be of particular interest to fans. Eight players are not expected to rejoin the team, including stalwart DT Jason Voorhees, who turns 31 in the offseason, and is asking for a $21m bonus to re-sign. Others, such as DE Max Dicken and CB Elliot Spencer, seemed to have lost a step in the last season but remain on contract with non-friendly bonuses to the team for the next two years. Rumors of retirement have started to swirl as well, to make matters worse.

In any case, this has been Reporter Newsman closing out another year from the Thrasherdome.
