MFN changes

For all the calls to arms to do something about MFN, the trigger has been pulled for better or worse. I'm giving JDB the benefit of the doubt, so if you are true believers, consider a subscription. I had already purchased hundreds of dollars ($180 if we're counting over 5 years) worth of credits for customization. I've used them to get a new yearly subscription, but that's money already spent. If no breaking changes are made at the end of my yearly subscription, this will be the end of my MFN career.

P.S. The ads are already killing my soul.

well said, I think everyone knew the next to free game was unsustainable. It is long overdue imo. This game even tho not perfect is enjoyable and the developer shouldn't struggle to keep it going. For the entertainment value and the hours it gives, a few $$ a month is still not expensive. I'll skip my espresso once a month and call it good

I will be leaving this league due to the new subscription. I was already tempted to move down to just a few teams as I wait for more changes to the game. So now I am moving to the free tier one team. If the game gets an update in the future I may be back.

Hopefully we don't lose too many owners but I imagine it's going to be much more difficult to keep the league full now with these changes.

I’m going to go full XFL. Really wish I wasn’t so cheap, but I am. I actually wish JDB would put a carrot on the stick of he wants the money.

Perhaps things get better and I’m swayed to feed him my money. Multiple leagues is the thing that hurts me the most, now it just means less time on site in general.

I have 6 - 7 months out of my credits. If there is no road map and no visible improvement in known bugs or in general by then, I will leave the game with a heavy heart.

I think that's the issue here. Had JDB been actively improving the game, I can see people buying into the subscription strategy. But he's essentially been MIA for the last 2+ years. It doesn't really inspire much faith that things will get much better.

I agree with what everyone else has said here. I followed kurse's lead and messaged jdb to apply existing credits to get out of ad **** in a single league (Moguls), but I'm going to hold off on jumping up to one of higher tiers for now. I'm hoping this doesn't backfire and chase a lot of people away from the game completely, but I bet many owners will end up like legend and just pick their "favorite" team to stick with and drop multiple leagues, leading to lots of vacancies.

This game obviously isn't perfect, but I have had a lot of fun and wasted countless hours here since stumbling across it nearly four years ago - I know a lot of Moguls owners have been here a lot longer than that. I'm willing to wait it out for now and see if there's some kind of improvement/change to the game before I put in any more money than the credits I already bought. It would be very hard to walk away completely.

(I got edited for h-e-double hockey sticks?? that's kind of funny)

I don't disagree with many of the comments, however think about the cost he implemented to play this game. We spent $10 which allowed add free and then we could play for years, some of us multiple years for essentially nothing unless you wanted to enhance the experience with name and team changes. Now we have been spoiled with this. With the userbase essentially playing for free how much revenue to keep the game going is there? I don't know these costs but I am sure servers and hosting sites aren't free. So if there is very little revenue how can we expect the developer to spend hundreds of hours to make changes. Think of your own life/job/career and investing the time to make these changes. I belong also to other sites where the userbase is always buying flex credits so why should this game be free? If the majority quits or refuses to pay a small subscription then the game will die.
I hope enough will agree with the subscription to keep the game going with the many leagues there are. I also hope that JDB will find the time to make changes as well so I will go this route and join a subscription.
I believe that some of the issue is that he waited too long as the userbase has been dwindling. This game itself is good and should have been good enough for it to be his job/life/career but with the initial cost model that he implemented it hasn't turned out that way.

There are and have been so many great agents and competitors. I hope you all will step up and make this game great again.

Cheers

I previously bought the 200 credits package for $40 or something, and that was going to last me a lifetime - didn't need it besides renaming players at a buck a pop, but wanted to say thanks for the game by paying up.

I completely understand that jdb needs money to make it worth his time to try to develop the game. However, I agree with people in the main discussion that he should have released ANY kind of improvement before setting up the subscription tiers - make a good faith showing that he is still actually trying to make the game better. With so many teams getting dropped right away (Wizards, Bangles, Dreigau), I'm sure most people are going with the one team free model, or at most the cheapest ad free tier (which I did with existing credits). He might get a small windfall from this right now, but I doubt a lot of people are going to want to make a big investment.

Like gopher said, if you enjoy the game and can afford to pay something you should, but I'd hold off on a top tier unless you absolutely love having 10-12 teams - I prefer putting lots of time and attention into only one or two, but that's just me.
