He was actually going to be fired after the 59-0 beatdown but I opted to let him finish the season and find a new coach in the offseason. The Demons will not forget Richard "D'antoni" Cozart who inspired the All Fly Zone offensive era.
Unfortunately, rule changes that added butter to the football on passes over 20 yards or to wide open receivers led to drastic changes in offensive philosophy in the years since.
Was he to blame for the disappointing final season? I don't really think so, the core team that led to so much success had aged and the incoming talent was just not up to par. But even so, the team was no longer responding to Cozart like in years past and that was never as evident as this past season. A change had to be made and sometimes that's the only way to grow.
The Demon's appreciate Richard Cozart for all that he's done and wish him well on his future endeavors.
