This is football and the sport is pure in one respect: winning is all that matters. If McCrea wins games, I will praise him. I promise you that. But so far, he has not won a single game, and if you lose, it doesn't matter who you are (even Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, etc.) when you lose, there is going to be scrutiny.
All I know is that billy has been selling his "master" rebuilding plan since he returned to the league, first saying that he was saddled by players he didn't select, then after purging all of those, complaining that he needed more time to get talent, and after trading all his draft picks to get talent, he's now saying he needs more time to develop a quarterback. Can't wait for three seasons from now when he just needs a few seasons to build up the defense! Then he can finally compete for real!
But in football, all that matters is the scoreboard. That's why even the Jets players last year, knowing the team was trying to all out tank, still played to win, because in football there is no such thing as not trying to win. Let us know when we can start seeing some Ws next to the Pennsauken name. Until then, everything is just talk.
