DOGS LOSE BADLY IN CHARLOTTE

Memphis went to play division rival Charlotte and things were pretty bad for them. Charlotte blew out Memphis 37-7. It was only a game for about a quarter.

Anything that could go wrong seemed to. 37 points given up, 9 sacks, 11 penalties, I think 4 turnovers. It was an all around ugly game for Memphis.

"We didn't think we were going to go unbeaten all season, we thought we would be more difficult to beat than that" said Tom Vroman. Who, by the way was injured. "We play again in Memphis and now we have a bad taste in our mouths from this and want to get rid of it". Vroman added.

In the NFC South Memphis is still in first place at 6-1. Then Charlotte at 5-2, Atlanta 4-3, and finally Tampa Bay at 2-5. The Dogs play the Anteaters next. Hopefully they can put this loss behind them and get back on track.

DOGS HAVE BAD TIME IN IRVINE

The Dogs were not shown any hospitality by the Anteaters and were beaten 32-7. The only bright spot was a play in the 1st Quarter where Robert Asbury rang Leon Moores' bell and caused a fumble. We hope Leon is okay. The play sat up Memphis' only score in the game.

Things don't get much easier as Memphis plays S.F. Demons next. The Dogs still have a game lead over Charlotte in the National South.

VROMAN TO SIT?

With the Hound Dog offense struggling Memphis may go with backup QB Larry Howe. The decision isn't engraved in marble but Memphis needs to put up some points tonight against the Demons.

BEARS MAUL HOUND DOGS

Memphis was in Chicago trying to stop the bleeding of a losing streak only to have it extended to 4 with a 51-27 mauling. The game was never close. Memphis had 6 interceptions, 4 fumbles. There is no way to win with those mistakes.

Memphis ownership knows we have ran into some of the leagues best in the past four weeks but in those losses, the Dogs have not even put up a fight. Memphis needs to get back on track this week at Tampa Bay. If not. the Dogs could move into last place in the NFC South. What a long way to fall, from #1 in the Conference to last place. Such is life in pro football.

MEMPHIS FINALLY SNAPS LOSING STREAK

Memphis was in Tampa Bay and finally stopped the bleeding for the time being with a 35-10 win over the Bucs. It was a nice win but the Dogs still didn't look like the team looked in the first few weeks of the season.

Memphis gained 414 total yards, 141 on the ground and 273 passing. Tom Vroman threw an interception on his 1st play from scrimmage but that was the only one of the game. He ended up 16/23 260 yards 3 TD, 1 Interception. Stephen Rutherford was a workhorse out of the backfield 17 runs for 82 yards. Nice job Rutherford. Hoadley ran 6 times for 35 yards and a touchdown. Souders caught 6 for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. Adams and Perry also caught TD passes out of the backfield.

On defense, Robert Asbury was like a mad hornet. In on almost every play but Mark Boothby led the team with 7 tackles and 2 sacks. Mc Donald, William Cooper, and Ernest Moore each had two sacks a piece for a total of 8 for the Defense. It was nice to see the team be able to go after the QB. That can happen if you get a lead.

The next two games are division games with first place Atlanta and then hosting Charlotte. These two games could be what makes or breaks the team as far as post season hopes are concerned. Hopefully the Hound Dogs can make it interesting and beat these guys..

HOUND DOGS ON DOWNSIDE OF AN INSTANT CLASSIC IN ATLANTA

The Hound Dogs built a 27-17 lead in Atlanta and held it to about 1:40 in the 4th, but the Falcons scored two late TD's and beat Memphis 31-27.

I can't remember a loss that hurts as bad. The Falcons are a dangerous team to face.
Tonight Charlotte is in town and the Dogs, even though they lost, were playing pretty good football. If they play as well as last week, Charlotte will have their hands full.

INSTANT CLASSIC DEJA VU

For the second consecutive week, the Dogs were on the downside of an instant classic. This time Charlotte was the team that stole the game from Memphis and sent 82,612 fans home wondering what the **** is going on here?

Charlotte scored 2 late TD's, just like Atlanta and celebrated a 21-16 win in Memphis.

Vroman didn't make any mistakes as he was 16/24 279 yard, 1 TD. Rutherford ran well 16/68 yards, Hull 14/51, and Adams 7/-2. Souders caught 6/143 and a TD.

On defense, Ehmann had 7 tackles and 3 sacks to lead the team. Brashear and Gerald Johnson had picks. Lucas, Moore, Hamilton, and McDonald all had sacks.

The Dogs suffered some injuries in the loss, TE Bynoe, MLB Ehmann, C Hake, LT Mains, RG Sandoval, and DT Skiles were all shaken up.

The Dogs host the Falcons next and look to avenge the loss 2 weeks ago.

2019 ENDED BY FALCONS

Atlanta beat Memphis for the 2nd time in 3 weeks 25-17 to knock the Dogs out of playoff hope. The loss puts the Dogs at 7-7 and in 3rd place in the NFC South.

A nice start on the season, Memphis opened up at 6-0. A blowout in Charlotte took the teams confidence away and they've been 1-7 since.

The Dogs had a chance to tie the game late against Atlanta, but couldn't get the football in the end zone.

Games against Green Bay and Pittsburgh remain.

SNOW GAME NO FUN FOR HOUND DOGS

Memphis had another "instant classic" finish last night in snowy Green Bay. As usual, they ended up on the downside of the miracles. What has the Dogs done to deserve such bad luck this season? It is apparent that Memphis needs some depth on defense and to look at the turnovers because even though the games are exciting, it is tough to be on the losing side EVERY time.

Memphis took a hard fought 1 point lead with 4 minutes to play. Not a problem for the Pack, who had been pounding the ground all night, to get into FG range and they hit a 33 yarder as time expired to win 16-14.

The Packers had 165 yards rushing to Memphis 51, they controlled the time of possession 36 minutes to 23, and 3rd down they were 7/19 compared to Memphis 2/11. The Dogs also had 5 turnovers.

Sometimes teams from the south have a hard time in places such as Wisconsin. Even though you couldn't see the snow, you knew it played a role just watching the players move.

Vroman was 12/19 for 224 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT. He also was the leading rusher 1/26. He hit Souders 4/91 2 TD, Hull ran 15 times for 12 yards.

On defense James Clift had 10 tackles and 2 sacks. He made the Players of the Week list. So good job to James. We like the effort he showed. Boothby also had 2 sacks.

The Dogs finish out the season in Pittsburgh.
