MEMPHIS GETS WIN IN ATLANTA

Last season the Hound Dogs collapse to miss the playoffs after starting 6-0 was made possible by the Atlanta Falcons among other things. The Falcons beat Memphis late in the season twice. The Dogs got the season sweep this year but the games were hardly as important as those two late season games. Come to think about it, every game is just as important as another. This writer may not know what he is talking about.........What I do know is how difficult it was to not be able to get the win when it really counts.

The final score was Memphis 47-6.

The Dogs had 567 yards offense and gave up 310.

Mazon and Nate Hoadley made the Players of the Week list along with ex Hound Dog Larry Howe. Congrats to those players. Larry Howe, we meet later in the season so you can back it off a bit okay....

Mazon, (I hope i'm not jinxing him by saying anything) has yet to throw a pick. He is looking pretty good although he did make a couple of strange throws in Atlanta.

On D, Brashear had an interception that he almost took back for 6. Boothby had a sack and a pick. McDonald got to the Atlanta QB twice and the Dogs D didn't look like the 31st ranked team that they are.

They'll need to be just as good if not better as the Dogs head to the West Coast and play the S.F. Demons. The Demons are on a 2 game losing streak and now is a bad time to sneak in and get a win. It will not happen. The Hound Dogs are going to have to go there and play smart and not get pushed around to have a chance.

The Hound Dogs are 14 point underdogs. So nothing but a solid plan and execution of the plan will do.

I'm excited to see what the Hound Dogs will do come game time.

HOUND DOGS COME UP AN INCH SHORT IN S.F.

The Dogs went to the West Coast to take on the S.F. Demons last night and it ended up being another "Instant Classic" that the Hound Dogs ended up on the losing side of. S.F. stopped Rutherford from crossing the goal line as time expired and S.F won 50-45.

It's the closest this franchise has come to beating the powerful Demons. I think we may be able to get a win from these guys here in the future.

Mazon made the "Players of the Week" list once again. It is the 3rd week in a row doing so. Congrats to him on that. He also threw an interception in the 2nd Quarter. So now he has got that out of his system, let's move forward.

The Hound Dogs are now 4-2. They go to Houston next week.

I think the play at the end of the game we played was closer! I hope it was reviewed. One of these days, i'm going to win an "Instant Classic". In the last 2 seasons, so many of my games have come down to the bitter end.

HOUND DOGS WIN BIG IN HOUSTON

The Hound Dogs went down to Houston, Texas to play their 4th road game in a row. Coming off the heartbreaking loss in San Francisco, the team was eager to get back winning games.

The eagerness showed, as the Dogs mauled the Texans 51-3. Stephen Rutherford had a career high 234 rushing yards with 3 TD's and made the league "Players of the Week" list. Robert Mazon was excellent again going 11/20 for 260 yards, 3 TD and 0 INT. Robert Prosser torched the Texans defense with 4 catchers for 186 yards and 2 TD.

On defense Gerald Johnson led the charge with 8 tackles. Elvin Brown had 4 sacks, Saxon "Saxman" had 2, Boothby had a pair, Skiles and Delao each got to the QB once. The front pass rushers have been awesome this year and it has helped the secondary not have to bring anyone to help. Mc Donald and Brashear had interceptions and the defense, although one of the bottom in the league for yards allowed, played really well and kept the Texans out of the end zone.

Next up the Hound Dogs go back home and none other than that team one state to the east comes in to play. At 6-0 they look pretty good, they are basically healthy and it should be one **** of a game.

If the game is not a sellout, there will be a T.V. blackout in the Memphis metro area. So come on down and support your Memphis Hound Dogs!!!

HOUND DOGS BEAT CHARLOTTE IN OT!!!!

Charlotte came into Memphis with a 7-0 record and rolling towards another NFC South title. It has been a Sunday drive since the beginnings of this season. They hit a bump in the road here at the Elvis Aaron Presley Memorial Dome, as the Dogs stormed back from a 21 point deficit and knocked them off 43-37 in an overtime "Instant Classic".

It has been the biggest win for the franchise since joining the Moguls Football League from the now folded League 22. "I can't think of a bigger win for us" said owner Sid Allison. "Time after time, these guys come in, bully us around, make us look like a college team and coast their way into the playoffs." " I am happy to see the team take a stand and be successful."

The way the schedule works this season is pretty good as well, Week 8 and Week 16. It gives the teams plenty of time to evolve and the way things have been for us this season, it's a good thing. Only if we stay healthy.

Robert Mazon threw 3 picks, just like the opponent said going into the game. But he threw 3 TD's as well. For the season he has 31 TD's to 4 INT., not too shabby.......

The Dogs as a team lead the league in yards from scrimmage with 584.3, yards per pass attempt 13.0, Rushing TD's per game 1.9 and interception returned yards 12.5. The Dogs defense, could you call it a bend but don't break style?, has been porous as all ****, but have only allowed 26 points per game average while the Dogs offense has scored 45. The Dogs defense has a knack for making the big plays at the right time.

Next up is Arizona, right here in the Dome. Memphis has to get back to practice and have a good work ethnic and they should get the win.

Only time will tell.........

You squad finished strong, and we lost our fire. Without the fire, rubber duckies just become a chew toy, (complete with squeaker).

Good game. Looking forward to hosting you at the Asbestos Bathtub.

MEMPHIS TAKES CARE OF ARIZONA

Memphis hosted Arizona last night and got the big win 36-14. The game was not nearly as close as the score may look. The Dogs took a 33-0 lead into the 4th.

Robert Mazon showed signs of his old self, throwing 2 picks but playing pretty well otherwise. Nathan Hoadley RAN for 2 touchdowns, Hull 1. Reuben Souders caught 3/96 and a TD.

On defense big George McDonald led the team with 6 tackles and a sack.
Joseph Lopez, Frank Drake, and Robert "Someones gonna get hurt" Asbury all had interceptions.

The Hound Dogs host London next who just lost in a shootout with Boston, 65-55. They have the 7th ranked offense according to the yards per game and the 27th ranked D. Memphis is 2nd and 30th, so I can see over 100 points being scored easily.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS TOLD TO "RUN ALONG"

European football team London Golden Knights stepped foot onto Memphis astro turf last night in the Elvis Dome to take on the Memphis Hound Dogs. The Dogs defended their home with a 63-13 mauling that sent the Knights back across the Atlantic to England.

Memphis had a lot of big plays. Mazon to Bellows 64 yard TD, Mazon to Souders 87 yard TD, Mazon to Bellows 65 yards, Mazon to Bynoe 32, 26, and 49 yard TD passes. TE Bynoe had a career game 5/140 with 3 TD's. Souders 6/232, Bellows 4/151 with 2 TD.

Mazon and LB Joshua Ehmann both made the "Players of the Week" list with their results. Congrats to the both of them. The Dogs as a team played well on both sides of the football and the win was a team effort.

The team next heads up to Seattle, Washington to take on Mazon's old team. He will probably want to show the Seahawks what he can do as his time up there was miserable.

ROBERT MAZON

Robert Mazon takes it one game at a time. He is a true professional, but when he saw Seattle on this season's schedule he couldn't help look forward a bit to Week 11 where he would be taking his new team, the Hound Dogs up to the Pacific Northwest to battle his old team. The team where he put in 3 seasons of being beat down, picked off and sacked. In those 3 seasons up there he threw 83 picks, and was sacked 133 times! A lot of the abuse was at the hands of LAX and SF (Memphis lost to both this season). But needless to say, he was happy when Memphis called him and offered him 9 million a season to play here.

He has made good and is having one **** of a season...

45 touchdowns....

only 8 picks......

61.9% accuracy and 4,759 yards......

and a 9-2 record.

Now we need to bring up things that he hasn't done yet.

Beat LAX.........they killed us this season.
Beat SF..........he came as close as you can without doing it.
Get Memphis into the Playoffs.........

Talk about some difficult goals to achieve. Is Robert Mazon capable of getting it done? We ain't gonna find out til the end of the season, but he has a chance to get one of them done and with that very likely a shot at SF or LAX.

This has the makings of an exciting run to the end of the Regular Season and we are hoping to be standing at the end of it.

The Hound Dogs host Jacksonville next week.
