COMEBACK WIN TO START 2022

The Hound Dogs were in the land of Larry Bird and the 10 albums for a penny Colombia House headquarters Terre Haute, Indiana. Come to think of it, Larry Bird is not from there. But anyways the Terror is from there and they were the Dogs opponent.
The Terror played really good in the first half. They led 17-5 going into the break. Memphis was outplayed by their starters. Mazon looked rusty. Rookie offensive player Richard Hairston was fun to watch. He carried 9 times for 128 yards and caught 2 for 15 yards.

The Hound Dogs outplayed the Terror in the second half and took the game 26-17. Orcutt did struggle as well, throwing 2 picks.
No major injuries to report of. Rutherford was shaken up a bit but it is minor and LDE Delao suffered a minor injury. Other than those 2, the Dogs are healthy. It is a good thing, coming off the off season and the players conditioning low, it is easy to get hurt.

Tonights game is against Roswell Invaders who had a coaches nightmare last game.....an OT pre season game.

1) it's still the land of Larry Bird, even if he isn't from here originally. We have a statue and everything.

2) nice Columbia House reference. You either have a great memory or your scouting department is on point.

Good game

I am full of useless knowledge but I can't remember something important that I needed to do.....I am a big Larry Bird fan. Back in the 80's when I was a kid I remember Christmas Day games with the Celtics. We have some statues here in Salt Lake City of basketball players too. Do you know who they could be?

Oh yeah. Good Game and good luck on the season.

A TALE OF TWO HALVES IN MEMPHIS OPENING GAME

Memphis hosted the Invaders from Roswell, New Mexico and for the first half of the game Roswell took it to the Dogs. Putting up 14 to our measly 3 points. In the second half, the Dogs took it to the Invaders 35-3. 38-17 Hound Dogs win.

That being said.....Head Coach Ira McNeil said "Orcutt will start next week, with the starting offense. Just to see what happens. Mazon has played well but we haven't put up the points with him in. I want to see if the QB has anything to do with the point production or lack of it."

There is nothing wrong with a little friendly competition between teammates. It brings out the best in guys and that's what we are trying to be about here in Memphis.

Orcutt's play earned him a "Player of the Week" honors. Congrats to him on that.
Samuel Lindsay, playing both sides of the ball had one **** of a game. He had a few carries, caught a few passes but on defense he had a pick 6, led the team in tackles, and he sacked the QB. So Congrats to Samuel Lindsay on that great performance. Keith Olsen and new comer Walter Barker had sacks as well.

HOUND DOGS OPEN 2022 IN ATLANTA

Memphis started it's 2022 campaign in Atlanta to take on the Falcons. Yes, the Falcons that sent us packing a couple seasons ago. This team isn't that team. But neither are the Dogs.

The Memphis D kept Atlanta off the scoreboard and the offense didn't turn the ball over and we got the win 21-0. Stephen Rutherford was the man who the offense worked through carrying the ball 14 times for 88 yards, and a TD, then catching 4 passes for 69 yards.

The whole defense played well but the standouts were LB Earnest Moore, who forced a fumble and had a QB sack. DE Fink also had a sack that was a safety.

The Dogs schedule now takes them to Charlotte who were crushed at home last week by the S.F. Demons. They will be looking to take out the frustration of a home loss on us this week so the Dogs better be ready to play hard and hopefully, have a chance to win in the Asbestos Tub.

HOUND DOGS WIN FIGHT IN MINNEAPOLIS

The Hound Dogs were on the road again. Finding themselves in Minneapolis. Minnesota to take on the owner less Vikings.

The game was a tough, defensive, field position type of battle. The Dogs finally broke the plain of the goal line with 1:57 left in the 4th Quarter and got the win 13-3. The Dogs only managed 238 yards total offense in the game. Minnesota had 192. The Dogs strangest stat was the passing yards, 83.

Robert Mazon played a good game going 15/21 for 132 yards. He was sacked 6 times for 49 yards, so that is the difference in the passing yards. No Hound Dog player caught more than 2 passes.

On the Vikings side, ex- Hound Dog, Jonathan Johnson caught 10 passes for 95 yards. He was hit hard by LB Earnest Moore and fumbled the football. Johnson was Memphis' 1st round pick in '18 and it's nice to see he has found a place where he can be the top WR. The fumble was one of 3 Viking turnovers in the game.

Gerald Johnson, back from injury was the teams leading tackler with 7.

The Hound Dogs finally come home for some home cooking and for tonight's game vs the Green Bay Packers. The Pack have already beat Tampa and just about gave Charlotte more than they could handle so it should be a highly contested game. Get the family together and get out there and support the Dogs!

DOGS DROP SECOND STRAIGHT GAME

After last weeks loss at home against Green Bay, the Dogs continued their NFC North tour with a game at historic Soldier Field against the Chicago Bears. It was the same style of game that the Packers played against us. It worked again. Memphis was kept out of the end zone and Chicago got the 20-3 win.

The Dogs have had a lot of trouble putting up points against the teams from the Northern Division. The black and blue division is living up to its namesake.

Memphis only managed 142 total yards on the day. Chicago rushed for more than that.

Mazon went 10/16 118 yards. He didn't throw any interceptions or Touchdowns. Memphis tried to match the Bears by running the ball a lot but with no success. Rutherford led the team with 50 yards on 16 attempts. He was 2/9 yards through the air.

Ehmann and Brashear led the defense with 8 tackles a piece.

The Hound Dogs need to get their offensive problems addressed and hopefully fixed because two division games are up next with Atlanta and Charlotte coming in to the Elvis Dome.

DUCKS WIN ON LAST PLAY IN THE ELVIS DOME

The Ducks came into Memphis looking like a shot down and out buzzard waiting for the Hound Dog to retrieve it's carcass and hand it over to Memphis owner Sid Allison. There is nothing more a Hound Dog would like to do. These Ducks have been down to start the season, but they are far from dead.

With a gutsy performance from RB Joe Hamilton, who played hurt and it seemed he suffered injury on every play of his 28 carries for 126 yards, the Ducks scored on the last play of the game to tie, kicked the PAT, and won 17-16 in the Elvis Dome.

Robert Mazon had a decent game but he didn't handle any of the Charlotte pressure. When in any bit of trouble, he started looking back and forth and back and forth again. It makes one wonder if he has been out on Beale Street smoking who knows what with who knows who. But....he did keep the team in a position to win. Reuben Souders, who was injured caught 3 passes for 50 yards. Mazon distributed the ball to 9 different Dogs. Stephen Rutherford had 15/49 yard night on the ground and just wasn't able to get it done.

On defense Larry Brashear had a 7 tackle, 1 forced fumble, and a pick to lead the unit. He also was named to the "Players of the Week" for his efforts. After the game he had some praise for the Charlotte RB.."He isn't even a running back, he is a quarterback, and for him to show that toughness.......it's almost superhuman, we laid some big hits on him and he got up every time."

The Dogs split the season with the Ducks this year and the two are tied atop the NFC South at 4-3.

BUCCANEERS GET WIN OVER DOGS

All time in the Moguls League, Memphis is 10-0 against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Well scratch that. They are 10-1 now.

Robert Mazon threw 5 interceptions and looked like he is reverting back to how he played up in Seattle.

The Bucs just lined up, gave it to Travis Bernal and Memphis couldn't do a **** thing about it. Bernal carried 33 times for 154 yards and a TD.

Mazon went 14/30 for 205, no TD and 5 Picks. He will be benched in and Eddy Orcutt will be taking the reigns of the offense and hopefully he can get it to go because it hasn't the last few weeks.

Memphis was kept out of the end zone again in the 22-3 loss.
