DUCKS WIN ON LAST PLAY IN THE ELVIS DOMEThe Ducks came into Memphis looking like a shot down and out buzzard waiting for the Hound Dog to retrieve it's carcass and hand it over to Memphis owner Sid Allison. There is nothing more a Hound Dog would like to do. These Ducks have been down to start the season, but they are far from dead.
With a gutsy performance from RB Joe Hamilton, who played hurt and it seemed he suffered injury on every play of his 28 carries for 126 yards, the Ducks scored on the last play of the game to tie, kicked the PAT, and won 17-16 in the Elvis Dome.
Robert Mazon had a decent game but he didn't handle any of the Charlotte pressure. When in any bit of trouble, he started looking back and forth and back and forth again. It makes one wonder if he has been out on Beale Street smoking who knows what with who knows who. But....he did keep the team in a position to win. Reuben Souders, who was injured caught 3 passes for 50 yards. Mazon distributed the ball to 9 different Dogs. Stephen Rutherford had 15/49 yard night on the ground and just wasn't able to get it done.
On defense Larry Brashear had a 7 tackle, 1 forced fumble, and a pick to lead the unit. He also was named to the "Players of the Week" for his efforts. After the game he had some praise for the Charlotte RB.."He isn't even a running back, he is a quarterback, and for him to show that toughness.......it's almost superhuman, we laid some big hits on him and he got up every time."
The Dogs split the season with the Ducks this year and the two are tied atop the NFC South at 4-3.
