NEW DOGS

2025 is upon us and with 14 draft picks, the Dogs will have some new faces. Some come via free agency but most come from the draft.

#10 Jimmy Goodman QB 10th season, 6'3" 220 Texas- has spent time playing for Irvine and Miami. Will back up Orcutt.
#31 Robert Mc Cutchen Rookie 6'0" 226 BYU- can do it all as a RB, except break tackles and hold on to the football. If he wants a future here he needs to at least hold on to the ball.
#81 Booker Jude Rookie 5'11" 185 Penn. St.- Small, not too quick but strong. Will need to play well to earn a spot on the roster.
#56 Gene Johnson 6'5" 318 Alabama-solid back up RT.
#77 William Fouch LDE 6'3 281 Penn St. He is the type of player we like here. Big hitter and fast.
#95 Ben Rodriguez 6'5" 276 Iowa St.-- In 2022 he had 14 sacks.
#54 Christian Curtiss SLB 6'2 247 Michigan St.- one of several new LB's looking to play here.
#50 Earl Dickerson SLB 5'11 237 UCLA Has all the attributes of a good SLB. Hopefully he will be able to play at the next level.
#94 Darrell Brown MLB 6'0 216 Other Quick for a MLB.
#99 Steven Caudle MLB 5'11 241 Miss. St.
#57 James Vanover MLB 6'0 247 Murray St.
#96 Richard Eastman MLB
#91 Josh Smith WLB Notre Dame
#32 Dennis Anderson CB Northern Arizona
#33 Dwight Jackson CB 5th season out of San Jose St.

Those are your new Dogs. Let's get em boys.

THEM DOGS GET IT DONE

Stephen Rutherford a veteran RB has had to make way for some younger, more explosive RB's. But he finds ways to contribute in his new spot. In Roswell last night he ran for 7 yards on 2 carries but caught 7 passes for 104 yards. Memphis came back to beat the Invaders 16-13.

Rookie LB's Josh Smith and Christian Curtiss both had forced fumbles. They must know that creating fumbles tends to find a guy a spot on the roster. Even if he is not the top rated choice. So keep up the big hits guys.

Jimmy Goodman played backup, performing well 14/22 150 with a pick, Orcutt, the starter wernt 13/16 for 123 yards with a TD, no picks. Rookie McCutchen caught 4 for 56 yards.

Butcher lead the D with 5 tackles.

The Dogs are having "Dark Side Night" as they host the Las Vegas Wraiths. Wear all your "dark" attire and lets not let these spirits get settled in and feeling at home.

DOGS GET ONE OVER BENGALS

Bynoe had a TD kickoff return. Reuben Souders had a 75 yard TD reception, and Rookie Booker Jude had his first TD as a pro as the Memphis Hound Dogs got the pre season win over the Cincinnati Bangles in Pre season action.

The Dogs play the Colts next to finish out the pre season.

DOGS WIN DESPITE 5 TURNOVERS

When schedules are released, you take a look and see Irvine Anteaters in Irvine for the opening game. That's not a good draw. Then you go to Irvine and give the football up 5 times (it could have been 8) you think that is a recipe for a beaten Dog.

Eddy Orcutt had 4 picks, rookie Mc Cutchen put the ball on the turf 3 times but those two Hound Dogs did what they could to make up for it. Orcutt threw 3 TD's and Mc Cutchen had 73 yards rushing, 98 yards receiving with a TD and the Dogs prevail in Irvine 24-20.

" I preach everyday to hold on to the football, and make smart passes, we don't have much patience around here for that type of bullshit" said Memphis Head Coach Ira Mc Neil. "Those two did have me worried but they made up for it." he added with a smile. "Just don't do it again this week."

All in all it was a big win for the Dogs who are looking to put themselves in a position to contend for the NFC South division. Speaking of the NFC South, the Dogs now will meet up with the Duckies for the first of their two annual meetings. The Ducks are 1-0 after a hard fought win over Las Vegas they are coming into the game on a high note.

Irvine was favored by 4 or 5, so at least its unlikely to be a points shaving issue.

Also of note, the most overrated defensive player of all time, Robert Asbury failed to record a single defensive stat all game. This is after all the talk about how he is dangerous and mean man, possibly with CTE or Aspergers. Back up your words on the field!

Those are fighting words Norm. Robert Asbury might go headhunting 2 weeks from now, assuming he can make a play.

I'm just quoting statistics. 1 game, 0 tackles, 0 sacks, 0 forced fumbles, 0 INTs, 0 passes deflected. If he had 5 sacks and 10 tackles I would have praised him. But he didn't. Praise when good, criticism when bad. Maybe Asbury really does have CTE if he considers objective stats to be fighting words...

He didn't get enough hugs to motivate him. :(
