DOGS BEAT WASHINGTON 38-10
wre storied teams in Pro Football History The Washington Redskins were in Memphis to play with 71,000 in attendance. The Redskins had no trouble moving the football on the Memphis defense. They have a duo of talented RB's Bruce Shook and Mantooth. Shook gashed the defense on 22 runs he had 126 yards. Mantooth, 14/68 yards. If they would not have fumbled a couple times, this game could have been different. The Memphis defense was the reason, playing a bend but don't break system.

Memphis had 2 players make the players of the Week Vroman and Moore, congrats to those two. Vroman didn't throw much, 12/15 for 321 yards. 3 TD's and a 158.33 rating. He didn't have to throw much but when he did, if Hoadley was open, it was a footrace to the end zone. Hoadley 4/158, 2 TD's. WR Johnson caught 2 for 74 yards.

On the ground Rutherford 16/64 yards and a TD. Adams 11/39 with a TD. But the running by Adams came at a cost as he hurt his knee.

On defense Johnson led the D with 11 tackles. Lucas and Moore each had a pick. Walker and the vicious Robert Ashbury rang some Redskins bells and caused a fumble each.

The team has been playing really well these past few weeks and we hope for it to continue next week in Charlotte, North Carolina in the Mudpit. The Hound Dogs are 1-2 all time against their rival and will be looking to take both games this season. Memphis QB Tom Vroman, when asked about Charlotte said "these guys come to play, week in and week out. They are the division champs and will be until someone knocks them off. We will prep to the best of our abilities and come out and play fearless and fast and hope for the best."

DOGS BEATEN EASILY

The Memphis Hound Dogs were up in Charlotte, North Carolina and took part in a disappointing turn of events and the Hogs made easy work of the Dogs.

The Hogs built a 17-0 lead before the Dogs could muster up a FG to get on the scoreboard. The first half ended 24-10 and the Hogs held Memphis scoreless in the second half and tacked on a FG.

Charlotte had a good defensive scheme last night and hit some open WR's for deep plays and were able to get first downs on the ground. They only had one turnover, without a couple of mistakes, they are hard to beat. Memphis only had 185 yards all game.

Vroman 25/47 231 yards, 1 touchdown and 0 picks. Romero came in and threw the interception. Vroman was sacked 6 times.
J. Johnson led the WR's 5/63 with a TD.

On defense J. Johnson and Robert Walker led the team with 8 tackles. The outstanding George Mc Donald had 5 sacks! Elvin Brown had 2, Robert Ashbury had one, G. Johnson as well.

The team takes on the New York Giants who sit in 2nd in the NFC East at 5-4. Memphis had better not be dragging their tails and feeling bad about themselves or New York could put them in 2nd in the NFC South.

NY GIANTS HAND DOGS SECOND CONSECUTIVE LOSS

The N.Y. Giants were in Memphis last night and pulled off the victory 21-19. The win gets the Giants one game closer to being in the playoff picture and puts the Hound Dogs one game closer to being on the outside looking in.

New York kept Memphis QB Vroman on his toes. He never really was able to step into a throw and it shows on the stat sheet. He went 15/38 for 251 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT, he was sacked 4 times for 37 yards. Nathan Hoadley was held in check 2 catches for 94 yards and 1 TD. WR Johnathon Johnson caught 4/28 1TD. Rutherford ran for 60 yards on 11 attempts. He fumbled the football though and that's something he will be working on over the week.

On defense Gerald Johnson led with 7 tackles and a sack. Antwan Bussey had 6 tackles and a sack. Mc Donald and Hamilton had sacks as well. DT Cooper, Hamilton and CB Lucas had an interception each. Robert Asbury was in the game but did not have much of an impact.

The Giants came out with a good game plan. Keeping the already injured Vroman from getting comfortable, and forcing some mistakes. Even though they made a few mistakes themselves, the Hound Dogs were not able to make them pay. If you want to win football games, you need to cash those turnovers into some points on the scoreboard or you may as well take up golf.

HOUND DOGS GET BACK ON TRACK

The Memphis Hound Dogs were in NYC to take on the city's AFC franchise, the Jets last night and things went a lot better than when we played the city's NFC franchise. Vroman was protected and the Dogs got the 24-13 road win.

The fumbles by the Memphis running backs cause a little concern they lost 2. Vroman didn't throw any interceptions he went 15/22 for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns. Souders caught 5/144 and a TD, Rutherford led the ground attack 14/93 and a TD.

On defense Bryan Lucas led with 9 tackles, Robert Ashbury was playing with no concern to any ones safety, his own or the opponents. He had 7 tackles and a sack. Earnest Moore had a sack and James "Sackman' Saxon got to the NY quarterback twice.
All the pressure forced 3 interceptions by the Dogs, Robert Walker, Gerald Johnson, and Larry Brasher were the beneficiaries of the pressure.

It was nice to get back to winning after dropping 2 straight games to NFC playoff bound teams. Nothing like an AFC opponent to get the guys confidence up.

HOUND DOGS SHUT OUT BUCS

Tampa Bay made their appearance in Memphis last night. They really didn't get much going on though as the Hound Dogs shut them out 24-0. It is the first shutout the Memphis defense has had and possibly the owners first ever. They did it WITHOUT standout MLB Robert Ashbury who was in pads but didn't see any action because of injury.

The Dogs had 476 yards of offense and only gave up 156 Vroman 20/30, 320 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT. Souders had 8 catches for 132 yards. Jonathon Johnson had 4 catches for 78 yards and a TD, Nate Hoadley 2/61 yards with a TD, Rutherford ran well 12/103 1 TD, Wymore had a good day running 10/46.

Ehmann had 11 tackles and a sack to lead the defense. Mc Donald had 2 sacks, John Johnson had 2 interceptions. Larry Brashear and Lucas had picks as well.

The problem with the Memphis offense has been fumbles. They lost 3 last night and that is not going to go over well with the coaches. Tim Wymore is going to be running some laps at practice this week you can bet on that.

The Hound Dogs got a little help from the Dallas Cowboys who beat the Charlotte Warthogs and with the Memphis win, we're back in first place with the Hogs. Memphis has Atlanta next and are 14 point favorites. So the Dogs have a bit of pressure to win the game as it is inter division.

ATLANTA COMES TO MEMPHIS

Rival Atlanta Falcons were in Memphis to play the Dogs and the Dogs handled business, 31-13. Memphis had 544 yards offensive production. 192 of it on the ground with Adams and Rutherford running for 10/93 for Adams and 13/75 for Rutherford. A pretty solid running attack.

Tom Vroman, where should I start?..............well, he wasn't that good 19/35 371 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT. Most importantly, he didn't take any big hits or risk himself towards the end of the season. Souder caught 7/182.

Ethan Moore had 7 tackles to lead the defense, who have played well despite missing the teams "Billy Badass" Robert Ashbury the last few weeks. He looks to be coming back this week for the big ballgame vs San Francisco. The Demons were the last unbeaten team of the season. Somewhere Don Shula and the remaining 1972 Miami Dolphins are having a toast on that loss. They will be coming out ready to get back winning. The Dogs will have resident "Bad ***" Ashbury starting somewhere in the defense.

It is a big game for Memphis and S.F. if Memphis loses they could drop to 6th seed when they are currently 2nd, S.F. is now tied with L.A. and they have the 1st seed. A loss could drop them to 5 4th place or lower. It is the Leagues game of the week as well.

Actually a loss would likely drop you to 7th, Giants have the head to head tie breaker :)

True, at least the Robert Ashbury comments were not brought up. I don't know how he would react to any kind of criticism. He is a very dangerous man.

HOUND DOGS LOSE IN SAN FRANCISCO

The Hound Dogs Robert Ashbury did every thing he could to help.....but it wasn't even close as the Demons built a nice lead and fended off a possible Hound Dog comeback with a pick that almost ended up in the end zone. Final score SF 34-17.

The SF offense put up a nice 505 yards on offense coming right at Ashbury at times. Memphis put up 359 yards offense but they had 3 interceptions that really put the final nails in the coffin. Vroman was sacked 8 times as well. His final line ended up 19/42 for 395 yards, 2 Touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Hoadley had 5/159 and a TD on Memphis first play from scrimmage on offense. TE Ahern 4/95 1 TD.

The Hound Dogs might want to consider putting Ashbury in at QB...........

On the defensive side of the football Ashbury was the man. Yes the Demons did rack up 505 yards and 145 of it was on the ground but Ashbury was everywhere. Ending up with 9 tackles and an interception. Larry Sylvester had a sack for the defense.

The loss, for some unknown reason has Memphis still in the playoffs at 6th place. The Warthogs move into the 2nd spot and are a game up on the Dogs with 2 to play. The Warthog plays against Xtreme next week and are favored but anything could happen. The Dogs take on the Dallas Cowboys who are out of the playoffs and it would make sense for them to lose this game as to not help their division rival New York. But i'm sure the Cowboys will come out to play and play to win.

The game is basically do or die for the Hound Dogs. Who would have thought it, that we would be fighting for the last spot? Probably all of you out there in Moguls Land who follow the league could see it plain as day. In this league, especially the NFC, there are no cakewalks into the playoffs, it's pretty competitive and that should be expected every season.

DOGS SURVIVE IN DALLAS

Memphis took on the Cowboys in Dallas last night and got a big win taking the team to 11-4 and on the outside of the playoffs looking in. The Dogs are the only team that is not disqualified and that is not in the playoffs. Charlotte is 11-4 as well but they are 2nd in the NFC.

Memphis won the game 27-20. It was a close one up to the final second.

Tom Vroman went 18/26 for 353 yards and 2 touchdowns, no picks. Prosser had 2/89 with a TD, and Rutherford 1/90 Touchdown.

The new RB Shellenberger who came over from Seattle got 12 carries for 62 yards and Memphis was happy they found him on the FA market as he is fast!

Ethan Moore led the D with 7 tackles.

Now the Dogs take on Buffalo for the last game of the Regular Season, Charlotte plays the Jets. If the 2 teams tie, I don't know how it will be determined who goes to the playoffs and who goes to the golf course. We just need to get the win over the Bills, that's all we are in control of.
