The Monarchs defeated the Zeus 22-7 at home on December 17, maintaining their dominance in the regular season with an 11-game winning streak. With the victory, the Monarchs improved their record to 15-1 and solidified their position atop the division standings with a perfect 6-0 division record. Meanwhile, the Zeus remain winless at 0-16, continuing their losing streak to 16 games.

The Monarchs took an early lead with a touchdown in the first quarter. Quarterback Ken Jones connected on a 14-yard pass to Michael McDougal, who finished the play with a score at 4:20. Jerry Andrews added the extra point to make it 7-0. The home team’s offense showed consistent production throughout the first half, capped by a 19-yard field goal from Andrews in the second quarter, stretching the lead to 10-0.

The Monarchs extended their lead with another touchdown run by running back Richard Scott, who carried the ball into the end zone from 2 yards out at 5:58 in the second quarter. Andrews converted the extra point, pushing the score to 17-0.

Zeus responded late in the second quarter with a touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew Cortright to fullback Brandon Tate, covering 11 yards at 0:26. The extra point was good, cutting the deficit to 17-7 before halftime.

In the third quarter, Andrews added a 27-yard field goal, putting the Monarchs up 20-7. The clock ran out without additional scoring in the remaining quarters.

Ken Jones delivered a strong performance, completing 31 of 38 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions. On the ground, Richard Scott rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown, with Michael McDougal contributing 54 rushing yards and one touchdown. Tight end Antonio Taylor led receptions with 63 yards.

Defensively, the Monarchs pressured the Zeus quarterback consistently with five sacks, including two by defensive tackle Kenneth Hall. The Monarchs also forced one interception and recovered a fumble. Zeus' lone forced turnover was a forced fumble and recovery by middle linebacker Robert Miller.

Zeus struggled offensively, gaining just 98 passing yards and 30 rushing yards. Cortright completed 13 of 19 passes for one touchdown and one interception. The Zeus' special teams punted frequently, but were unable to change momentum given the Monarchs' effective defense.

The Monarchs’ efficient play and solid defensive effort ensured a clear victory without needing third-down conversions, as no third-down conversions were recorded by either team.

With this win, head coach John Rodriguez continues to guide the Monarchs toward what could be a deep playoff run, having clinched homefield advantage already. The Zeus remain eliminated from postseason contention under head coach Paul Landers.

The Monarchs will look to carry this momentum into the final week of the regular season next Sunday.
