The Monarchs remained undefeated this season by securing a 15-5 road win against the Aztecs on October 7 at Aztecs Stadium. With this victory, under head coach John Rodriguez, the Monarchs improved to 6-0 overall, including a perfect 4-0 in division play, maintaining their top spot in the standings.
London established control early as kicker Jerry Andrews accounted for all 15 points. Andrews opened the scoring with an early 28-yard field goal, followed by a 54-yard successful attempt in the first quarter. His precision continued with further field goals of 53 yards in the second quarter, 24 yards late in the half, and a 27-yarder early in the third, highlighting the Monarchs’ ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities without reaching the end zone.
The Monarchs' defense played a pivotal role in limiting the Aztecs to just a single field goal. Defensive standout performances included linebacker Larry Smallwood forcing a key fumble in the first quarter, which his team recovered. Linebacker Douglas Henry contributed a sack and intercepted a pass, showcasing solid defensive pressure. Cornerback Hudhaifa Ismaeli also intercepted a pass late in the second quarter, stalling a promising Aztecs drive. Overall, the Monarchs' defense recorded two interceptions and held the Aztecs to no touchdowns.
The Aztecs managed five points, including a safety in the third quarter when Monarchs QB Ken Jones was sacked behind the goal line by Diego Carrillo, marking their only points until a late 39-yard field goal by George Cook. However, their offensive struggles were evident, as quarterback Andrés Santillana completed 25 of 52 passes for 220 yards but threw two interceptions and was flagged for five penalties totaling 39 yards. Their rushing attack yielded 148 yards but failed to convert scoring chances inside the red zone.
Monarchs QB Ken Jones completed 28 of 43 passes for 255 yards, maintaining steady offensive production despite four trips inside the Aztecs’ 10-yard line without scoring a touchdown. Wide receiver Andrew David led the Monarchs receiving corps with 65 yards.
The Monarchs' control of both sides of the ball disrupted the Aztecs' rhythm. The Aztecs’ defenses managed only one sack and failed to force or recover any fumbles. Aztecs wide receiver Michael Peters gained 89 yards but was unable to translate his yards into points.
Special teams played a clear role in the game's outcome. Andrews went five for six on field goal attempts, while the Aztecs converted just one of two tries. The Monarchs also had fewer penalties with three for 19 yards, compared to the Aztecs’ five for 39 yards.
With this victory, the Monarchs continue as the only undefeated team in the league and strengthen their foothold atop the division, while the Aztecs fall to 4-3, facing challenges in securing a playoff berth as they trail in division play.
Head coach John Rodriguez’s squad now looks ahead to week 7, aiming to sustain their dominant form. This game underscored their defensive resilience and special teams efficiency as key to their ongoing success.
