The Dozers had an uneventful camp, which is both good and bad, no boomers, but no busts either.
Was looking at last seasons player stats, always find the sack leaders interesting, and last season was no exception. How does a DT (Dabney/Oak) with 58 speed, 62 strength, and 70 pass rush with an Ai rating of 59 (my weights = 61) end up leading the league in sacks? Apparently, it doesnt have as much to do with key attributes and overall rating as it should. AND ..... Oakland/Nyses, had another low rated DT (Ledford/59) only 1 sack behind (10 total) and DE, Carlton, with 8, and DE Jaramillo/53!! with 7 sacks to give Oakland 4 DL in the top 4 total sacks (12-7). If that's not a first in MFN, I would be surprised. Not only to have 4 DL with top 4 results, but all of them are Ai rated under 70!! Amazing. None of them were probably drafted or if they were, were not kept on a roster.
Basically, what that means is you should think twice about using a first, second, or third round pick on a DL, you can get potential league leaders right out of the FA pool.
So, with that interesting observation, on to the pre-season my friends, GL and lets have some fun.
That stat deserves a pic Nyses! Actual pic from Oakland Panthers IFL team. Sack!!

NOW he tells me!! Just used 1.6 on a DT, so thanks! ;)

If it makes you feel better, all my projected DL starters are 2 round picks or higher, so maybe having high skill DL isn't that bad?

Its all good if you get the production/performance out of them. What puts the frosting on the cake is getting good DL w/o having to use those 1st and 2nd round picks to do so. I have a couple on the Dozers last season, DE Camacho and DT Humphries. Camacho has an Ai of 57, but... he was a 1.29 pick!! My weights have him at 74. Humphries was lost to FA and the Fuegos smarlly picked him up. He has a 64 Ai, my weights had him at 74. Both were in top 10 for sacks last season. When you review the sack leaders you see that they are just not based on their atts and ratings alone, they also depend on the play selection and maybe the coverage, as in RL. You can use a high pick or trade for a DL, but I wouldnt do so based on what Ive seen in the current game version and code/algorithyms.
The 1.1, first pick in 35 draft was DE Tommy Hunter, by the Teabags, he had 4 sacks and 7 hurries, which was less than the Ai low ranked DL named above and previously. The 3rd pick of the draft was WR Claude Payton by the Shadow Dancers, he racked up 918 yds and 9 TDs. Which stat line would you prefer from a top 5 draft pick? The #2 pick, MLB Binns, allowed an excellent 38% catch and had two picks, 77 tackles/10 misses. If it were me, I would rather have the WR or MLB, way ahead of the DE, why? because its much easier to get equal of better performance with a lower rated DL as opposed to a lower rated WR or LB.

Do you not have to factor in the the fact that there is often a premium to a good DL and the pick used to get them is higher than should be all things equal.

Thanks for the practice Gdad. Don't care about them backups, huh?

I set the fatigue down to 20 or lower and try to spread the reps btw starters and subs as equal as possible. Once starters hit conditioning, I will usually sit them, so I can see how the subs do with more reps vs other teams starters. I will sometimes rotate QBs by game, but thats about it. as the QB2 gets nerfed subbing in now. :)
