RE sacks .... 7 games in, tied for the lead in sacks with 6 are two DE's that would more than likely be passed over by most team owners if not all if they were available in FA and are currently not listed as starters.
DE Gary Bates, Org Crush, has a default rating of 77, 6 yr vet, 6'5/276. He's having a remarkable season so far as compared to his previous. Last season he was in for 349 plays and did not get a single sack, 4 hurries, 4 tackles. This season, in 465 plays, he has racked up 6 sacks, 11 hurries, and 15 tackles. His current position listing is RDE2.
DE Richard Robinson, Kayfabe, has a
default rating of 45. He's a 9 yr vet at a weight of 247 (11% below the average). My weights have him at 67, and it would be interesting to see what other owners weights have him at. His current positioning is LDE3, RDE3, and DT4. When he was drafted by Minnesota, his # was 46, which leads me to believe that DE was not his original position.
Next, the only player with 5 sacks is DT Graff, Blizz, the only DT in the top 10 sackers. He is what you would call a legit "blue chipper" with a default rating of 85 and in his 2nd season.
So, is there anything to consider from this when it comes to your roster priorities and the DL position? Another consideration is the upcoming new game version, where sacks have been substantially increased. Sacks are drive stoppers, next most important defensive outcome behind turnovers, and teams in the top 10 of sacks are usually all playoff teams. Cheers!
