QBs in danger?

By dangalanti

Question for admiral or any other experienced 4.6 owners (ioan, redneck, duane, billy (???)) - do quarterbacks actually get injured now with the increased sacks? I've never seen a QB get hurt for more than a few plays, but wasn't sure if that would change since there will be a dramatic increase in frequency of sacks. Just curious.

The majority of the time they will 'slide to avoid being hit'. No real noticeable difference in injuries for QB's. They can get season ending injuries in 4.5 too, it's just very, very rare.

Interesting. My o line already had a problem with sacks in 4.5 (QB is *extremely* slow, but has pretty good acceleration and break tackle) and I didn't know if he'd be sacked 95 times a year now.

Sacks really aren't as bad as people make out. If you do really struggle with sacks, work on protection (OL, TE, FB and RB who can pass block), make use of formations with an 'extended pocket' ie 221, 230, 311 and play out of the Shotgun rather than under Center (that will give your QB a little extra time to find a receiver) and keep slow developing plays off the agenda - 'play like Brady, not Russell Wilson'.

My gameplan adjustments around the slow QB seemed to work in preseason week 1, but I didn't know if that was just a lucky one off. He's probably going to retire after this season so I'm thinking about the younger replacements moving forward.

I'm not sure but I think I had only 1 serious QB injury in all Bleeding Edge seasons which kept him out for 2 or 3 weeks.
Even minor injuries (P) or substitutions during a game did not occur except the a.m.

My rough understanding is that JDB intentionally limits season ending injuries and doesn't have career ending injuries, because this is a game - that is, if we made it like real life where QBs break their legs and are done for their careers, as happens in real life, it would be too frustrating for players. So while many people complain about "too many injuries" the game is actually designed to have less long term injuries than in real life. I've never had a starting QB miss a game due to injury, ever.

not much for QB injuries, the only serious one was for me was in a 4.5 League

Have not seen an increase in QB injury, as Admiral pointed out, they are rare, But, expect a significant difference in the number of sacks and pressure on the QB, which affects the passing game. Sack leaders in MFN-1, 20+ sacks, avg over 1 per game. compare to existing player league stats .... 2 DEs had 8 sacks each last season. Overall, sacks are double. QB-wise, you may want to go with speed, scramble, pass release as much as any other attributes, lol.

Speed over scramble if you had to choose?
