52-15 DOGS VICTORY

The Dogs went to the West Coast to take on the Red Dragon of Los Angeles. Mazon and the offense put up the TD's and the Dogs defense kept the Dragon out of the end zone. A good all around effort.

Memphis had 648 total yards offense, 156 on the ground. Robert Mazon played brilliantly 19/28 passing for 502 yards, 5 TD's, 0 interceptions, a 150.30 passer rating, and finally it earned him a spot on the "Players of the Week". Reuben Souders caught 5/172 and 2 TD, Rutherford, playing WR quite a bit caught 3/122 with 2 TD's, Perry also had a TD reception.

On the ground Hull was the man 15/88 yards and 2 TD.

On defense CB G. Johnson and LB Ehmann each had 8 tackles to lead the team. George McDonald and Elvin Brown got to the LA quarterback. G. Johnson had 2 forced fumbles and Larry Sylvester had the big hit of the game. Remember, this guy is a kicker that was converted to DB. He laid a killer hit on a LA back. https://moguls.myfootballnow.com/watch/1478#325991

BEARS CHALLENGE HOUND DOGS

Memphis' Robert Burgess kicked a game winning FG as time expired and the Dogs took care of the Chicago Bears 22-20 last night in Memphis.

Memphis led most of the game until the 6:46 minute mark in the 4th when the Bears took a 20-19 lead. The Dogs offense, which had been good all game but not able to get in the end zone, ran a 14 play, 66 yard drive to set up Burgess FG attempt from 26.

The Bears Adalberto Lee had a field day on the Memphis defense running 23 times for 135 yards. Memphis' "bend but don't break" defense played just well enough and kept the Bears offense from running up the score.

Big George McDonald got his big paw up and intercepted a Chicago pass attempt. Defensive backs Lindsay and rookie Furman had some big hits that forced fumbles. We are just as happy as can be by the DB's making people pay for catching the ball. Geoffery Street led the D with 9 tackles.

On offense, despite the inability to get into the end zone, they were quite efficent. Mazon 14/23 245 yards, 1 TD and 0 interceptions. TE Ahern 6/143 and a TD reception.

The Dogs play division rival Tampa Bay next and will see them in Week 10 as well. So the team scouts have been following the Bucs and their franchise QB Robin Arroyo.

HOUND DOGS DODGE CANNONBALL

Tampa Bay was in Memphis to take on the Dogs last night. You would think with a final score of 40-13 Memphis couldn't have dodged any kind of cannonball. That is until a glance at the stat sheet and you see the 7 times Memphis fumbled. Luckily for us 6 were recovered by the good guys.

Tampa Bay put up the first TD of the game turning a fumble into 7 points. It would be their only TD on the night. Memphis put up 24 points in the second quarter, putting an end to any threats by the Bucs.

The Dogs had 593 yards offense to 326 by Tampa. The impressive thing and what I like a lot is 261 of them were on the ground. The passing game was just as impressive with 11 different Hound Dogs catching passes. Bellows had a 98 yard TD and Manz had a 3/71 night with a TD.

The running game which was fantastic had Rutherford doing the bulk of the carries. 16/81 and a TD. Manz 8/58 with a TD. FB Adams had a game like we haven't seen from him for a few seasons, 5/51 yards, Mazon tucked the ball 3 times for 38 yards and finally Nathan Hoadley was 5/33. Good job to the backs on their hard work.

On defense Josh Ehmann led with 7 tackles, George Mc Donald had 2 sacks. James "The Sack Man" Saxon did what he does best......gobble up the opposing QB's, once.

There was a serious injury in the game though. Emmanual Delao hurt his neck for the second time in his short career.. He will not play the rest of the season and his career as a football player is possibly over. We wish him a speedy recovery and if he is ever able to put on a pair of shoulder pads, he can do it here for the Hound Dogs. We are unsure on what we are going to do with him in the front office. IR or just heal and come back in the summer.

BRONCOS 26 HOUND DOGS 27

88, 365 rabid Hound Dogs fans were on hand to see the Dogs take on the Denver Broncos last night in the Elvis Dome. They were on the edge of their seats all night long.

The 1st Quarter saw 4 TD's, 2 by each team with the Broncos tacking on a FG to go into the break up 20-14.

In the 4th things were looking bad with Denver extending their lead to 23-17. But in the ensuing kickoff Prosser took it to the house and Memphis had the lead finally at 24-23. That was not held as Denver put up 3 more and were ahead with 4 minutes to 26-24.

Mazon was right where he wanted to be. The football and 2 minutes left. He took them down field, using up the Broncos timeouts and Burgess kicked the game winner with 1 minute left.

The Broncos had one last chance but with no time outs the short passes they were throwing bled the clock and Memphis got the big win.

The Broncos were 10/19 on 3rd down. The Dogs D needs to man up and stop these teams so they aren't totally gassed by the end of the game. But they did well enough to win and that's all you can ask.

Mazon had his most mistake filled game as a Hound Dog. He went 19/32 for 289 yards, 2 TD, and 2 Interceptions. TE Ahern was his big target 8/146, 1 TD. Reuben Souders 1/35 with a TD.

Robert "Someone is gonna get hurt" Asbury had a pick as did CB/SS John Hamilton. Hamilton led the D with 9 tackles. Elvin Brown, Asbury, "Sack Man" Saxon, and George McDonald all got to the Denver QB.

The second defender in as many weeks went down last night John Hamilton hurt his foot. He likely will be out the rest of the season. The team has yet to announce what his fate will be but with 11 years under his belt, it may be the end of his football days.

The Hound Dogs now go to Tampa, Florida to take on the Bucs. (3-6) The Dogs will not take these guys lightly. Robin Arroyo and his team are a good football team. So good luck to the Dogs and let's keep winning. We are not in position to be in the playoffs should the season end today.

HOUND DOGS BEAT BUCS

The Hound Dogs and the Bucs played a see saw battle last night in Tampa. The Dogs were fortunate enough to be ahead when the time ran out. 37-30.

Robert Mazon went 16/25 for 376 yards, 4 TD, and 1 INT. Nice game for the QB even with the pick. Bellows caught 2/120 with 2 TD. Manz caught 1 pass for a 74 yard TD. Adams caught 2/22 and a TD.

On the ground, Hull 11/61, Rutherford 15/46.

On the other side of the ball, Ehmann led with 7 tackles. James Rollins had an interception.

The Dogs rank 11th in total offense (500.1 ypg) and 21st in defense 461.7
They are 8-2 and hold the 6th seed if the season ended today.

Next up Atlanta. The Dogs need to take the struggling Falcons seriously..It was only 2 seasons ago the Falcons were a big part of the Dogs collapse. We don't want that to happen in this season.

DOGS NOT ABLE TO STOP THE DUCKIES

The Memphis defense was not able to stop the Charlotte Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies offense. They scored on all but 2 possessions and beat Memphis 51-37 before an almost sold out crowd. It was a loss that takes Memphis one step closer to booking tee times.

With 3 games left Memphis has to go to New York and play the NFC East leading Giants. Then home for a game with the Cowboys then off to L.A.. to play NFC West leading Xtreme. It is not impossible by no means for the Dogs to win all 3 games......... but it is highly unlikely.

Robert Mazon was out played by his counterpart but still had an okay game. 21/31 for 385 yards, 4 TD and 1 interception.

The Dogs suffered some injuries last night. Peter Ezell will be out for the rest of the season. He is on IR. RG/C Adamson hurt his hand. Stephen Rutherford out with a knee injury, and Geoffery Street will most likely be out next game.

So the Dogs head up to N.Y.C on a 2 game losing streak and their season on the line. We will see if the Dogs can regroup or if they will fold.

Do you have psychic abilities?.....anyway, we get to see what we're made of. I gotta be optimistic, them Hound Dogs are good. We just need to stop the long ball and we can be right there at the end of the game.

HOUND DOGS STAY ALIVE, UPSET GIANTS

Memphis kept their Playoff hopes alive last night by going into N.Y.C. and getting the big win 58-38 over the New York Football Giants.

Mazon played great. 27/47 for 615 yards, 6 TD, 0 interceptions. He made the "Players of the Week" list for the effort. Congrats to Robert Mazon on that honor.
Prosser caught 6/195 with 2 TD. Nathan Hoadley caught 4/160 and 2 TD's.

Larry Brashear led the defense with 8 tackles. Jonathan Fink got to the QB 4 times. Sam Lindsay and Elvin Brown had sacks as well. Lopez and Brashear had picks.

The team returns home to play the Dallas Cowboys tonight.

HOUND DOGS WILL PLAY ON!

Memphis has been playing lose and your're out Playoff style games since Week 14. Here was another one at NFC West power L.A. Xtreme. Memphis had not beat them anytime in League history, that going back to the old League 22.

It looked as if LAX would send the Dogs off to the first tee box and an early off season. But Memphis went into survival mode, got a lucky bounce on an onsides kick and won 51-48.

The Dogs now will go back up to N.Y and play the Giants in a Wild Card Playoff Game. The Dogs are coming in pretty healthy and they will need every player to be at their best.

Game is tonight.
