BRONCOS 26 HOUND DOGS 2788, 365 rabid Hound Dogs fans were on hand to see the Dogs take on the Denver Broncos last night in the Elvis Dome. They were on the edge of their seats all night long.
The 1st Quarter saw 4 TD's, 2 by each team with the Broncos tacking on a FG to go into the break up 20-14.
In the 4th things were looking bad with Denver extending their lead to 23-17. But in the ensuing kickoff Prosser took it to the house and Memphis had the lead finally at 24-23. That was not held as Denver put up 3 more and were ahead with 4 minutes to 26-24.
Mazon was right where he wanted to be. The football and 2 minutes left. He took them down field, using up the Broncos timeouts and Burgess kicked the game winner with 1 minute left.
The Broncos had one last chance but with no time outs the short passes they were throwing bled the clock and Memphis got the big win.
The Broncos were 10/19 on 3rd down. The Dogs D needs to man up and stop these teams so they aren't totally gassed by the end of the game. But they did well enough to win and that's all you can ask.
Mazon had his most mistake filled game as a Hound Dog. He went 19/32 for 289 yards, 2 TD, and 2 Interceptions. TE Ahern was his big target 8/146, 1 TD. Reuben Souders 1/35 with a TD.
Robert "Someone is gonna get hurt" Asbury had a pick as did CB/SS John Hamilton. Hamilton led the D with 9 tackles. Elvin Brown, Asbury, "Sack Man" Saxon, and George McDonald all got to the Denver QB.
The second defender in as many weeks went down last night John Hamilton hurt his foot. He likely will be out the rest of the season. The team has yet to announce what his fate will be but with 11 years under his belt, it may be the end of his football days.
The Hound Dogs now go to Tampa, Florida to take on the Bucs. (3-6) The Dogs will not take these guys lightly. Robin Arroyo and his team are a good football team. So good luck to the Dogs and let's keep winning. We are not in position to be in the playoffs should the season end today.
