2017 MEMPHIS OFFENSIVE PLAYERS

The Dogs had a 50/50 training camp with half the players getting better and half losing some of their attributes. The big gainer was WR Peter Vu +12/+10. The big loser ended up being WR Bailey 5/-6.

MEMPHIS HOUND DOGS START NEW ERA

Memphis started a new era here in Football Moguls last night. The team on the field looks to be very quick and an exciting team to watch week in and week out.

The team lost to L.A. Red Dragon 38-35 on a game that really could have gone either way. A couple of turnovers, and some missed FG's cost them their first preseason game.

"We wanted to start our history with a W" said Dogs 1st round pick Scott Boos. "It's would be nice to have got that out of the way, but we're back at home next week, and looking to get our first win in front of our fans!"

The Hound Dogs got a real dogfight next week as they host Cleveland. I hope everyone has gotten their rabies shots. Get on down to Elvis Aaron Presley Dome and support your new Memphis Hound Dogs!!!

HOUND DOGS LOSE HOME OPENING GAME

In a battle of dogs, the Browns are the alpha. They came in to Elvis Presley Memorial Stadium, pissed on the carpet and asked "what you gonna do about it?"

I am aware it is only preseason but that first game at home needs to be a victory. It sets the tone that you just don't come to Memphis and ride off into the sunset with a W. You are supposed to leave at least with a fat lip with haste out of fear the Hound Dogs are looking to mount you.

The game was sloppy. 7 interceptions, 4 fumbles. Don't get me wrong Cleveland is a quality football team. Red Dragons got their hands full here. They created some timely turnovers and turned them into points.

I am awarding Cleveland the "dog bone" trophy. It is theirs until taken away by another dog team. Or the Vince Wilforks.

HOUND DOGS GET FIRST VICTORY

Memphis finally got their first win out of the way, a 47-18 victory over the Oakland Raiders here in Memphis last night.
The team had over 500 yards offense and the Rookie QB only threw 1 pick.

The season will start with the next game. Is Memphis ready? It doesn't matter if they are or not. Time marches on and the young Rookies that Memphis has will either sink or swim. Memphis hosts the Arizona Cardinals to start the new history of the Memphis Hound Dogs.

MEMPHIS CAN'T GET IT DONE

The Memphis Hound Dogs, playing their 1st game of the new football era, at home, in the brand new Elvis Aaron Presley Dome, playing the Cardinals, lose 28-21.

The Memphis defense allowed 520 total yards, 193 yards on the ground and 327 passing. DT Sam Miller led the d with 9 tackles and a sack. Robert Asbury had 8 tackles and a sack. Geoffery Street had an interception.

Hound Dog QB Vroman didn't play well, he threw for a sad 9/29 with 244 yards. He was harassed by Arizona lineman Bott all game and threw two interceptions, he was sacked 6 times. Hopefully he just had the jitters and with the first game out of the way, perform like a pro QB.

Memphis plays rival Charlotte Warthogs next and they better get it together quick. The Warthogs are 1-0.

DOGS LOSE TO RIVAL WARTHOGS

The Memphis Hound Dogs, playing in front of a sold out crowd, fell behind by 24 to start the game, Climbed back into it in the 4th Quarter but in the end lose 27-20.

Vroman 21/36 291 yards, he was sacked 7 times 2 TD passes, 0 interceptions, 102.89 rating. WR Prosser led with 6/85 yards and a TD.

On defense John Hamilton led the team with 8 tackles and a pick. Antwan Bussey had 2 sacks.

The Warthog defense did a good job at stuffing the Memphis ground game. Memphis has some talented, quick backs so that went a long way in helping Charlotte win the game.

HOUND DOGS GET FIRST WIN

Minnesota came to Memphis to face a Hound Dogs team that defensively are beat up and struggling as they entered the game ranked 32nd. With RDE Bussey, the teams sack leader, and MLB Asbury, the teams leading tackler out, the remaining Memphis players had to make a stand. They were up to the task, forcing 4 turnovers and beating Minnesota 17-7 here at EAP Dome.

Elvin Brown had 3 sacks, William Cooper 2, Vroman played QB pretty well, not throwing much but most importantly not making mistakes. He was 6/11 for 88 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT. He hit Souders twice as the WR had 3 catches for 76 yards, 2 of them TD's. RB Rutherford had 25 carries for 97 hard earned yards. Spires had 19 carries for 44 yards.

The Memphis offense leaned toward the running game with a Rookie at QB it may be in the best interest of the team to slowly bring Vroman up in pass attempts, with low risk passes to help build some confidence and trust in his WR's. The team is still without its LT's. A key part to this offense as Boos was their #1 pick in the draft.

After starting the season with 3 home game the Hound Dogs now travel to play. They are now 1-2.

"ROAD DOGS" GET WIN IN THE BIG CITY

The Memphis Hound Dogs went to the grimy big apple and got a big win, over the Football Giants, 26-14. The Giants started out strong but the Dogs outlasted them and won the turnover game. The win brings the Dogs to 2-2 this season.

While only managing 269 total yards, 100 on the ground and 169 in the air. They had some plays that when you look at the stat sheet you wouldn't see. FB Donald Parker had 5 carries for 37 yards. But what you don't see is the effort he put into a 28 yard bulldoze in the 4th that all but took the Giants out of the game. Vroman played well 16/28 169 yards, 2 TD, 0 Int. RB Spires 17/36 1 touchdown. Frank Sylvester led the WR's 7/95.

The defense got a safety by Brashear, Kaminisky led with 6 tackles 1 sack. Cooper had 2 sacks and Miller had an interception.

The injuries keep piling up.. this game took it's toll on the Hound Dogs. RB's Adams and Spires were hurt. WR Souders, LT Boos, DT Cooper, CB Gomez all sustained injuries.

The Dogs are in the mile high city next to take on the 3-1 Denver Stoner.....uh I mean Broncos next. It should be a dandy.

DOGS GET DENVER WHEN IT COUNTS

Memphis was home to take on the Denver Broncos (who beat them badly in pre season) in front of 77,870 fans. The Dogs didn't dissapoint, sending all 77 thousand home with a 28-11 W.

Memphis scored a TD in every quarter and was in control all game.

Vroman played well 10/15/0 229 yards, 3 TD, 0 Int. and a 149.31 passer rating. The Dogs had some success running the football, every yard was hard earned. Rutherford 20/69 1TD, Spires 18/65. Vu led the receivers with 2/83 and 1 TD. TE John Aherm caught a TD pass as did Reuben Souders.

Geoeffery Street led the defense with 8 tackles, LB Asbury is back, playing like he wants to take someones head off. We are hoping he stays injury free. His style is full speed all day so that's probably not gonna happen. New DE Saxon impressed the defensive coaches and got a sack. CB Larry Brashear had a game sealing interception in the 4th.

Next up are the 0-5 Seattle Seahawks ip in the Emerald City. The Dogs need to prep well and avoid playing down to the competition.
