Was coaching a team of 8 and 9 yos, we didnt have a kicker who could kick it more than 25-30 yards, so we basically onsided all of our KOs. A punt would only net 10-15 yards at best, so what did we do? Yeah, we went for it on all 4th downs, lol. Won our league championship and came in 2nd in the So Cal playoffs, which was a first for our league and city. But, that was 8 and 9 yo's, that strategy doesnt work real well once teams have good kickers.

Funny enough I was watching a program on YouTube about a High School Coach (kids were about 16-18 I think) who onside kicks every time. Won the Championship 4 years in a row - has three kickers, one of whom is a girl. When they recovered two kicks in a game they were 52-0!

Ballsy move, but NFL have basically made onsides kicks nearly impossible.

That coach is/was at Pulaski County about 35 miles southwest of where I live. He's made a reputation for himself. I want to say that he might have gotten a job coaching college recently.
