More FM20 Trivia:

With the 2036 playoffs looming, I wonder if we will have a tie-breaker in one category: Super Bowl Appearances by Division.

Both the AFC EAST and NFC WEST have made 10 Super Bowl appearances each in 19 seasons. The Arkansas Thrasher hold the record with 9 appearances followed by the Xtreme with 6. The Demons have appeared in 3. The Real Kayfabe and Seahawks each have 1 appearance.

However, the NFC WEST has 7 total Super Bowl wins, compared to the 5 from the AFC EAST.

In head-to-head championship competition, the NFC WEST had defeated the AFC EAST 5-2.

The 300 Club represents a statline that cannot be easily achieved without consistency, endurance, and a modicum of success. It seems obvious but it would take at least 6 seasons of 50 TDs to get to that point, but it's far more realistic with the current game engine to do it in about 8 seasons. In 20 seasons, there are only six quarterbacks to have reached that threshold. Spinner will likely never be surpassed but he had the benefit of throwing during the halcyon days of 0.4.4 when the best threw 60+ TDs per season (Spinner threw 93 TDs in 2020). In any case, here are the inductees of the 300 Club and we have a few more on the rise in the upcoming seasons.

Members of the 300 Club
Patrick Spinner 486
John Spartan 364*
George Wilson 359*
Richard Williams 338
Andrew Martinez 329
Stanley Payne 302

It's time for the long delayed Football Moguls 20 Anniversary Team! The computer all time team doesn't even load for me anymore! But I was able to load the "All AFC" and "All NFC" teams as selected by the computer and I copied them down here. By the 40th anniversary nothing will ever load probably! I then added my subjective rankings to select the first and second string players among the CPU picks. Here they are, memorialized for all time.

QB
1. Patrick Spinner, San Francisco Demons
2. John Spartan, Arkansas Thrashers
What matters more, stats or titles? Spartan has more titles, but Spinner has better stats. But Spartan is still playing, so in five years, the spots could be flipped.

RB
1. Edmond Johnson, San Francisco Demons
2. Clarence Sorenson, Arkansas Thrashers
Yes, according to the computer, Edmond Johnson has exceeded Scott Cosper, probably due to his receiving numbers. Cosper is still the all time leader in touchdowns, but doesn't make the cut. But we mention him because he is a true legend. NFC also has William Holmes, so not sure if limiting to top AFC/NFC is the right methodology, but it is the easiest!

FB
1. Clarence Arnold,
2. Gene Mosley,
In truth, neither of these guys deserves the spot. Neither were "real" FBs but converted to FB from WR or RB later in their careers. I know this because I owned them both. So this is the asterisk category, where the computer couldn't figure out who the best true fullbacks were. I rate Arnold higher because he was a fullback for longer.

WR
1. Ronald Aguilar, Los Angeles Red Dragon
2. William Marquis, New York Giants
3. Raymond Farr, Los Angeles Xtreme
4. Joseph Melacon, Cincinnati Bangles
I don't know if anyone will catch Aguilar's numbers without a billyvan powered offense. But we should soon see some active guys break the ranks, like Jerry Jeudy. Or maybe the new game engine means that these numbers become untouchable.

TE
1. Dennis Lee, Los Angeles Xtreme
2. Earl Steel, Frozen Tundra SnoSharks
Lee was a pass catching machine, but no idea that Earl Steel (15 TDs, 4800 yards) is the best the AFC can offer.

OL
Timothy Cornelius, Dallas Cowboys/Battle Creek Barbarians
Mike Gutierrez, Irvine Anteaters
Gerald Martineau, Detroit Lions
John Gunter, Los Angeles Xtreme
Ron Parrott, Detroit Lions
Raymond Giblin, Los Angeles Red Dragon
Tony Coleman, Houston Oilers/Del Feugo Phoenix
Charley Ray, Arkansas Thrashers
Richard Tomlinson, Terra Haute Terror
Roy Noyes, Houston Oilers/Del Feugo Phoenix
No ranking for OL because I have no idea how to do that. The only way I determine if they are hall of famers is if the CPU ranks them as such. All time team = hall of fame.

DL
1. Phillip Turner, New York Giants
2. Michael Cherrito, Arkansas Thrashers
3. Robert Appleton, Independence Pirates
4. George McDonald, Memphis Hound Dogs
5. Alan Woods, Minnesota Vikings
6. Frank Gray, San Francisco Demons
7. Bryan Pate, Wilmington Argonauts
8. James Adkins, Cincinnati Bangles
Adkins wasn't really a DL, so no idea now he made the list. Turner and Cherrito are the starting ends for sure.

LB
1. Ricardo Rivers, Arizona Cardinals
2. Hunter H Hemsley, The Real Kayfabe
3. Michael Martin, Irvine Anteaters
4. Brett Edmonson, Los Angeles Xtreme
5. Jonathan Long, Irvine Anteaters
6. James Monster Carter, Las Vegas Wraiths
7. Robert Clevenger, Indianapolis Colts
8. Michael Bailey, London Monarchs
Some great LBs on this list. I favors the chaos makers higher in the rankings. More turnovers forced means greater impact.

DB
1. George Walls, Chicago Bears
2. Larry Cummings, Arizona Cardinals
3. Louis Palumbo, San Francisco Demons
4. Ralph Kolb, Oakland Raiders/Las Vegas Wraiths
5. Leslie Smith, Denver Broncos
6. Jeffrey Yaeger, Frozen Tundra SnowSharks
7. Enrique Hill, Irvine Anteaters
8. Ronald Rickard, Denver Broncos
I don't agree with the CPU picks at all. Allen Reynoso probably deserves to be on this list already. And Bryan Langton too.

K
1. George Miles, Arkansas Thrashers
2. Rex Miller, Los Angeles Xtreme
Kurse wants kickers? We won't exclude them from this list at least. Miller has more points scored, but Miles has the championship pedigree. And yes Michael Taylor has more points than all of them.

P
Rickey Gordon, Seattle Seahawks
David Ogden, Roswell Invaders
I have no idea how the computer values punters. But here is who the CPU thinks are the best punters of all time.
