Announcing the Hall of Fame Class of 2043

First, a previous omission:

James Brandt, WR, Brawndo Corp Dildozers

Brandt had 8,981 receiving yards ranking 16th all time and 86 receiving TDs, 9th all time. He had one of the greatest seasons of all time, with 2897 receiving yards and 31 TDs in 2034. He also dominated the post-season in 2036, catching 10 TDs in Brawndo Corp's Super Bowl run. We overlooked this Super Bowl and playoff hero.

And now the 2043 inductees:

Eugene Bergen, S, Arizona Thundercocks

Bergen anchored the Arizonz secondary for over a decade. He had 40 INTs. The team never made the playoffs, so he never got the recognition he deserved for battling the high powered offenses of the NFC West year after year.

Kevin Duran, LB, Arizona Thundercocks

"KD" was another lifetime Thundercock, who amassed impressive defensive stats in relative obscurity. He had 1252 career tackles, the most ever, to go along with 30 INTs. His loyalty, like Bergen's, made him a fan favorite, even if he never got the team accolades he long sought. Neither Duran or Bergen ever played on a team with a winning record.

Announcing the Hall of Fame Class of 2044

Mark Savage, OL, Irvine Anteaters

Savage is a classic case of never giving up on one's dreams. He was a second round pick, cut midway through his first season after a disappointing training camp and a disappointing start to his career. But he reinvented himself as an offensive lineman with Irvine and went on to play 13 more years with the Anteaters. Hidden on the often uncompetitive Anteater teams, he was the one bright spot on the offensive line.

Ernest Williams, QB, Los Angeles Xtreme

Williams called it a career at 35, having already accomplished so much. It's hard to believe that Williams' first action was out of the backfield as a running back and was originally envisioned to take a multi-talented/gadget player role. Instead, he seized the starting QB job and never looked back. In his first season, he won rookie of the year... and also led the Xtreme to the title, winning Super Bowl MVP, a first for any rookie QB. He followed that up with back to back MVP seasons. He never reached the highest heights again, losing both his other Super Bowl appearances, but the stats are up there: 3rd all time in touchdowns with 376, 96 QB rating, 47,947 yards. He is one of the best to ever do it.

Jack Libby, S, London Ravens/Oakland Panthers

Libby was a ball hawk in the secondary, recording 54 career INTs, including 12 in his rookie season on his way to becoming defensive rookie of the year. He also had 16 forced fumbles. He was a turnover machine.

David Baxter, CB, Boston Teabag Party/Brooklyn Tigers

Baxter was a workman-like CB that just was solid year in and year out. He amassed 42 career INTs, including 4 returned for touchdowns, but just being a dependable starter year in and year out.

**** Trickle, CB, Terra Haute Terror

Trickle is another CB who makes it into the hall partly because of longevity. His 42 INTs puts him up there among the greats, though it did take him 14 seasons to get there. His 11 forced fumbles also bolstered his hall of fame case.

I was just going to sit quietly until Archie got in via the veterans committee. Norm will do it when the time is right. At least he got his ring.

Sorry, Archie can join the "hall of very good" next to Martin Deskins and Robert Salazar. We have high standards at the Mogul Hall of Fame.
