The 2039 regular season is in the books and it's time to recognize the great regular season performances of the past year.

On defense, Neil Jensen of Terra Haute and Frank Meyer of Battle Creek led the way with 26 sacks each.

In the defensive backfield, Jimmy Grosso of Detroit has 10 INTs to lead the league.

On offense, we saw continued declines in pass offense, with zero 1,000 yard receivers. Tight end Gary Fell of South Brisbane led the way with 977 yards. Stacker Pentecost of Arkansas had a league leading 12 receiving touchdowns.

A new face emerged in the top running backs. Derrick Burch of Los Angeles, a former wide receiver, rushed for 1358 yards, caught 283 yards and scored 15 TDs.

QB Ernest Williams of Los Angeles emerged from a multi year funk to lead the league in passer rating, but the top passing QB was Kenneth Rainey of San Francisco, who threw for 3,462 yards and 24 TDs.

That said, Rainey didn't do it alone. In fact, the backbone of the new look San Francisco offense was its running game. And that run game was led by the head and shoulders rushing leader this year. Running for a league leading 1,917 yards, adding 424 receiving yards, (not to mention an additional 700 return yards) and scoring a league leading 17 TDs, your 2039 league MVP is running back Larry Bruner of San Francisco!

OK, the season is over half over, so I got to try to catch up. No recap this year, but for posterity sake, I will name the Super Bowl MVP...

We will give it to sentimental pick QB John Spartan - anointing him as probably the best QB in Football Moguls history. DB Michael Crawford had an argument with his pick six that basically sealed the game, but I think Brooklyn was well on its way to winning even before that.

The 2040 season is done and we take a moment to highlight the top performers of the year.

On the defensive side of the ball, Richard Parker of Chicago was dominant on the line, with 22 sacks, leading the Bears back to the playoffs. William Andrews of Rapid Valley also caused lots of havoc, leading with 21 hurries and 21 sacks.

David Baxter of Wisconsin was top ballhawk with 8 INTs and the legend Allen Reynoso of Wilmington added another 7 INTs to his legendary total. He is closing in on hitting the 100 career INT mark, currently at 97.

On offense, once again Stacker Pentecost of Arkansas was the top WR in the league, being the only receiver over 1000 yards, with a league leading 8 TD catches. Tight end Justin Martin of Irvine also had a great year as the second leading receiver, with 928 yards and 90 receptions.

Running back Edmond Johnson of San Francisco had a resurgent season, with 11 touchdowns, 957 rushing yards and became the all time leader in touchdowns with 124. London also had a thunder and lightning combo with Von Poppa (1031 yards, 8 TDs) and Obafemi Ayanbadejo (809 yards, 8 TDs).

Passing-wise, the surprise top QB of the year was Brandon Collins of Brooklyn, leading the league in QB rating and passing touchdowns, while taking over midseason for the legend, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, the greatest QB of all time, John Spartan, after 6 games. Thomas Carlisle of Arkansas in his first season as a starter also threw a league leading 23 TDs.

But our league MVP award goes to a player who was a one man offense this year. With a league leading 1649 rushing yards, 9th overall in receiving yards, with 662, a league leading 2311 combined yards and a league leading 17 TDs, 6 more than the next closest player, your 2040 MVP is Derrick Burch, RB, Los Angeles.

Super Bowl 24 featured true defensive dominance. No touchdowns were scored. The game saw less than 100 yards combined passing in the first half and only 3 points scored. Brooklyn had multiple missed opportunities, as they had a critical red zone fumble by Richard Mason, forced by Ken Sale and a questionable call to go for it on 4th and short when in field goal range. In the second half, the Shadow Dancers' defensive dominance continued, repeatedly frustrating Brandon Collins and crew. Defensive coordinator Orville Varner will probably be getting a lot of head coaching interviews after his tour de force performance. Shane Stork added two sacks. And the defense controlled the game throughout. However, Rapid Valley could not have won without scoring... and one player was responsible for scoring ALL of the team's points. He set the tone with a 54 yard field goal and iced the game with the 57 yarder to make it 2 scores and put things out of reach. He had 5 field goals in the game! Your Super Bowl MVP, for the first time ever, is a kicker, James Galloway!

And I can't believe how emotional the Shadow Dancers fans are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tn7H1jvszRk

The 2041 regular season is done and it was thoroughly dominated by one team: the Rapid Valley Shadow Dancers, which joins the elite 16-0 regular season club. Of course, none of the previous 16-0 teams have ever won the Super Bowl to finish off the perfect season? Will Rapid Valley do it? They have done it with team play and an outstanding defense. They did not have a single, transcendent performance, but a collection of great players doing what they do. It is shame that they cannot be recognized for their team effort with this award, but as usual, we focus on the key individual performers for 2041.

On defense, DE Douglas Crafton of Oakland had a career year with 28 sacks. The Las Vegas Wraiths' defensive line also wreaked havoc with Dennis Cordova and Donald Ryder combining for 38 sacks.

CB Barry Flores of Arkansas finally lived up to his massive contract, leading the league in interceptions with 8 and playing the best corner of his life this season.

Turning to the offensive side of the ball, it was a down year for receivers, with no receiver reaching 1,000 yards. WR Joe Horton of London was able to hit 900 yards and 10 TDs.

On the ground, Larry Bruner of San Francisco led the way with over 1700 rushing yards and 11 TDs. He was 400 yards ahead of the second place runner, Reyes Cross of Wisconsin.

But as it often does, MVP comes down to the QB that carried his team the most. And this year, no QB did more to keep his team afloat than the league leader in TDs, with 27, and with a 97 QB rating and 2984 yards, compiling a 13-3 record. One would wonder what record the Lions would have had without him shouldering the offensive load. Your 2041 regular season MVP is QB Adam Benton, Detroit!

With Super Bowl XXV, fans witnessed the birth of the Brooklyn Tigers dynasty. The Tigers, playing in their third straight Super Bowl, won their second title. And they did it the way they had been doing all season, with suffocating defense. Their opponent, the Charlotte Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies, were defensive stalwarts in their own right. The game was mostly a battle of field goals, except for one defensive breakdown by Charlotte, where Brandon Collins hit Wayne Tong for a 93 yard touchdown, the only touchdown of the game. Otherwise, the game was controlled by the defense. The Duckies simply could not get anything going on offense. No one was more important to that effort than the heart and soul of the Tigers' defense. He had an early INT and added six tackles as leader of the defense. Your Super Bowl XXV MVP is linebacker Omar Sitton!

The 2042 regular season featured yet another 16-0 campaign and some amazing individual performances as always. We recap the stars of the season as always.

On defense, the Jackson Township Upside Sicilians had one of the greatest defensive seasons ever, allowing only 69 points. They were led by defensive end Fred Meraz, who had a league leading 24 sacks. Meanwhile, the tandem of Gabriel Hughes and Lawrence Richardson were at it again for the Los Angeles Xtreme, combining for 42 sacks.

Rookie Darius Greenman of the Real Kayfabe flew all over the field at the linebacker spot for a league leading 187 tackles.

And in the realm of pass defense, two linebackers actually led the way. Andrew Johnson of the Los Angeles Xtreme led the league with 10 INTs and linebacker Anthony Hawkins of the Brawndo Corp. Dilzoders was second with 9.

On offense, Tommy Jhonson of Jackson Township validated his trade price by leading the league in receiving yards, being the only 1000 yard receiver in the league. Rookie Phillip Robinson of San Francisco led the league with 10 receiving touchdowns.

On the ground, there were 9 1,000 yard rushers, led by Freddie Granados of the Rocky Mountain Bronx, who rushed for 1,670 yards. Matthew Romero of Jackson Township had 1551 yards and 10 TDs.

But as always, the MVP competition comes down to the quarterbacks. This season featured several exceptional performers. Michael Ramirez of the Rapid Valley Shadow Dancers led the league with 4,061 yards and had 27 TDs. Brandon Collins of the Brooklyn Tigers and 30 TDs and an outstanding 104 QB rating. But the man who truly dominated the 2042 regular season threw for a league leading 34 TDs and over 4000 yards. Oh and by the way, he also guided his team to a perfect 16-0 record in the regular season. Your 2042 league MVP is quarterback Glenn Soileau, Jackson Township!
