Funny enough, Spinner is still Livid towards me after all these seasons, even though I made him a superstar by trading him to a team that could use him the right way.
He should be giving me a cut of his endorsement money.

This year's Super Bowl featured the unlikeliest of Cinderella stories. The Terra Haute Terror won three playoff games to qualify for the Super Bowl, despite its 9-6-1 record, the worst record of any Super Bowl participant in league history. Were the stars lining up for a historic upset? The answer was no. Despite being warned about turnovers, Terra Haute QB Christopher Hernandez went ahead and threw 5 interceptions. While the Terra Haute defense put up a valiant effort all game, including getting 2 interceptions of their own, the Terra Haute offense let them down. Meanwhile, it was business as usual for New York, who had the best record in the league and continued its domination in the Super Bowl, scoring via quick strikes, long drives, off turnovers, it did not matter. CB Bird and LB Moore each had 2 INTs. But, QB Richard Williams set the tone from the outset, completing his first 15 passes in a row and putting New York up early. He finished with 323 yards and 3 TDs and so he is your Super Bowl MVP!

The 2026 regular season is done and the playoffs are about the start, so it means it is time for our annual Football Moguls honors and recognition!

This year saw a continued revival of offense output across the league!

Leading the way on the ground was Martin Deskins of Arizona! He led the league with 1346 yards rushing. There's been a changing of the guard at RB, with top runners Karl Grizzard and Scott Cosper retired and Clarence Sorensen near retirement age. Will Deskins be a worthy successor? Time will tell.

As for receivers, 1000 yard receivers were back in vogue, with 12 receivers making the cut. Leading the way was Terra Haute's Patrick Oliver! The rookie sensation led the league with 1393 receiving yards and added 12 TDs. Christoper Joiner of Detroit led the league in TDs with 13, including a record tying 100 yard TD reception.

As for the defensive side of the ball, Shawn Porter of Atlanta was this year's pass rush master, with 12 sacks to lead the league by far. And it was an interception bonanza this season! Brian Langton of Washington and Larry Cummings of Arizona both had 13 INTs! 13!!!

But as usual, any MVP talk comes down to the QBs in the league. There were two 5000 yard passers this year, Andrew Martinez of Los Angeles and Christopher Hernandez of Terra Haute. Patrick Spinner had the top QB rating at 102.18. But the man who lead his team to the number 1 seed in the AFC, the man who 35 TDs vs. only 13 INTs for a QB rating of 100.82, the man who threw for over 4,500 yards... and did all this while his mortal enemy Simon Phoenix joined his team this year... Your 2026 regular season MVP is the Demolition Man John Spartan! Let's all celebrate with some Taco Bell!

In a bit of metafiction irony, John Spartan's comments on winning this year's MVP was "I am d'Lawww!"

In the 10th anniversary Super Bowl, the Giants and Thrashers engaged in a defensive struggle and as usual in such affairs, turnovers made all the difference. The four turnovers forced by Arkansas were critical, the points off turnovers were essentially the difference in the game. New York could only generate one turnover, so despite out gaining the opponent, New York simply could not take control of the game. Instead, they kept giving the Thrashers more and more opportunities. QB John Spartan took advantage. Clarence Sorenson racked up over 140 combined yards, but the key plays and the biggest of the game were the 2 Thrasher touchdowns. And both were scored by the same player, making the biggest catches in the biggest game. That means your Super Bowl MVP is an unlikely hero: Arkansas's WR3, John Nelson!

Another regular season is in the books, and once again, we saw some history being made. We were witnesses to the third ever perfect regular season. However, this time no one individual led the charge. Rather, the 16-0 Los Angeles Xtreme were led by its stifling defense, which allowed a league low and near record 116 points on the season. The defense featured standout CB Rudy Ayers, who had 10 interceptions. However, history remembers that the last two teams to finish the regular season undefeated did not walk away with the championship. Will the trend continue this post-season?

Meanwhile, the rest of the league featured some new offensive stars. RB Robert Salazar of The Real Kayfabe led the league in rushing yards, followed by Martin Deskins of Arizona. George Erwin of Arkansas was probably hailed and reviled in fantasy leagues as he led the league with 19 rushing TDs, including a record setting 9 in a single game!

As for receivers, it was business as usual for Christopher Taylor of New York who had another amazing year and garnered some MVP consideration. Even though everyone in the world knew what route he was running, he could not be stopped. He led the league with 1896 yards and 23 TDs, head and shoulders above the pack.

As for individual defenders, Joseph Pauley of Chicago and Joseph Fields of Detroit we this year's sack masters, but of course both had the benefit of padding their stats against Miami. Pauley had a record setting 9 sacks in one game.

In the defense backfield, we something not seen since the days of Deion Sanders - Football Moguls' first true two way player, TE/CB William Bogen of Boston! With a league leading 14 INTs (albeit 4 against Miami), Bogen proved that you can answer the question of offense or defense, with the word "both." Of course, there were also great DB seasons from CB Claude McKenna of South Brisbane, who had 10 INTs and LB Joseph Benson of Detroit, also with 10 INTs.

But as usual, our MVP discussion will come down to the gunslingers and there really only were two real candidates for the trophy. Reigning MVP, John Spartan of Arkansas again attempted to demolish the league, with totals of 45 TDs, 4393 yards and a QB rating of 114.47. But despite how great those numbers look, he was outdone in each category by someone else. Someone who did not even have the advantage of playing two games against Miami. Your 2027 league MVP is QB Bruce Cassidy of New York! In his first season taking over from franchise legend Richard Williams, Cassidy silenced all his critics by leading the league with 46 TDs and an insane 126.33 QB rating, while throwing for 4468 yards. The $12M a year contract the Giants handed him to take over for Williams, which at the time seemed like a risk to give up on a proven legend, has now turned out to be the driving force of New York's 15-1 season. Will Cassidy have the same post-season magic as Williams? And will the Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies again regret letting go of another MVP QB?

The 2027 Super Bowl featured a clash of the top defense vs. the top offense and for three quarters, the balanced attack and stifling defense of Los Angeles appeared to be on its way to capping off the first undefeated season ever. John Spartan, the hero MVP of just a year ago, was having one of his worst playoff games ever, including throwing a horrible INT that set up a Los Angeles touchdown. He was shut down in the first half, held to seven points. But then in the third quarter, everything seemed to change. Los Angeles' coaching staff went ultra conservative, sitting on its 11 point lead and hoping they could cling on to victory. Questionable decisions will haunt coach Silas Horst, as pundits are already calling him the biggest Super Bowl choker since Kyle Shanahan. With his team driving, with chance to put away the game, but going up three scores, on fourth and short, Horst called for a long FG instead. The kick was no good. However, the defense forced the Thrashers into a third and long. Then "Spartan Magic" became a thing. After being shut down on long plays all game, Spartan hit WR John Nelson on a 43 yard pass. It was reminiscent of another game where a star QB shut down all game hit a 44 yard pass and changed the whole game...

(John Nelson 43 yard catch)

A few plays later, Spartan hit a touchdown throw to make it a one score game. Penalties and sacks resulted in Arkansas getting the ball back in good field position and Spartan led a 13 play drive, but the defense held to force a field goal to maintain a one point Los Angeles lead. But sitting on the slimmest of leads, Los Angeles then went ultra conservative, running three consecutive run plays for a net total of one yard. The three and out left no time for the Los Angeles defense to rest and it was back on the field against the MVP Spartan for the game. What was the coach thinking?

(Los Angeles coach Silas Horst)

And Spartan hit 3/3 passes and got two pass interference penalties to boot to quickly lead a touchdown drive where Arkansas just passed on the goal line on third down.

(David Lusher TD)

Los Angeles drove to the Arkansas 33 before a missed pass by Andrew Martinez led to a fourth and long and the game being over.

(Andrew Martinez failing to pick up the first down)

When a QB sparks a comeback, leads a game winning drive, and becomes a Super Bowl legend, it's a easy call for the Super Bowl MVP. John Spartan can hoist the trophy once again!
